Melksham Parish Room in the running for £30,000 revival
Melksham’s much-loved Parish Room, which has fallen into disrepair after flooding and years of wear and tear, has been named one of four finalists in the running to receive a £30,000 regeneration grant.
Local residents are being urged to vote for the Parish Room in Certas Energy’s national Community Bloom Fund, helping the St Michael’s Church team secure the funding needed to revive the ‘crumbling’ space.
Tucked just off Canon Square, in the heart of Melksham, the Parish Room has long served as a meeting point for people of all ages. However, a failing heating system and other structural issues mean the building is no longer fit for purpose, with some community groups having to stop using the hall.
“This building is small but mighty,” said project manager Hannah Thomson, who is coordinating the renovation alongside local volunteers. “It already serves a wonderful cross-section of local people, but we know that by making these improvements, we can engage even more members of our community.
Voting closes on Wednesday 23rd July. To vote for Melksham Parish Room, visit: https://buff.ly/BLa88S5
