Well done to the band that rang a peal yesterday at Melbourne. They rang the 'cyclic six' in 3 hours 22. For those that don't know, this is a complicated composition requiring a lot of experience and concentration. The band came from across the country (from places including Somerset, Yorkshire, Cambridge, the Midlands and London to name a few). It is the first time this composition has been rung by an all female band.

Well done Melbourne for coming 2nd in the Robert B Smith trophy of 2024.

Bob was a much loved member of our community both in ringing and just as a gentleman of our village and Stanton by Bridge. I love that his legacy carries on in this competition and he was still around for us to tell him about it several years ago when we came up with the idea.

This is the 12 bell team who are not part of the main 12 bell band but are practicing in Melbourne on the last Thursday of each month to improve their 12 bell skills, they are all still very accomplished ringers. Bob was passionate about bringing ringers up to higher levels and he would have loved to see the new members joining 12 bell ringing every year.

Today we have visitors from the Ancient Society of College Youths ringing a peal (will last around 4 hours) of ‘Avon’. If you walk past the church have a listen for some really top level ringing.
