Messy Church is at All Saints Church Hall this Sunday (5th) from 4-6pm. There will be crafts, songs and a story about how Jesus made surprising friends. We finish with a meal for everyone and it is all free. You can make a donation if you wish. All children must be accompanied by adults.

Last month we heard how Jesus healed a woman who had the courage to reach out and touch the hem of his cloak and how he brought a young girl back to life. I completely forgot to take any photos so here are some of the mystery photos from the previous month, including some extra ones. Can you work out what they are?

This might be of interest to anyone with children in year 6.

The Circuit Youth Group will be moving to Tansley Methodist Church until the end of the term.
The youth group is open for 3 special nights to Year 6 children as well as those in senior school on the 26th June, 10th and 24th of July 6.30pm - 8pm. Includes a meal- usually pizza or hotdogs.

Messy Church is on Sunday (7th June) from 4-6 pm. (Apologies to anyone that I told it wouldn't be on this month!) Come along to All Saints Church Hall on Smedley Street to hear an interactive story and join in with crafts, a game and a meal. This month we will be hearing about two of the many times that Jesus healed people in need. All children must be accompanied and it is all free. Donations towards costs are welcome.

Last month we heard how after Jesus went back to heaven the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit and started to tell everyone about Jesus. The activities included a spreading the good news snooker table game, making Pentecost crowns and a going into all the world mobile.

May Messy Church is at All Saints Church Hall, Smedley Street on Sunday from 4 to 6 pm. Come along for crafts, games and songs based on an interactive story, and then join us for a meal. Last month we heard about Thomas who couldn't believe that Jesus was really alive again until he had seen him and touched his crucifixion wounds. We made 3D writing, played guess the object from how it feels and did a quiz to identify photos of items viewed from unusual angles. There was also an activity for the older children.

Last month we heard the story of the prodigal son but it could also be called the story of the forgiving and generous father. We thought about Lent and how we could help each other. The crafts included making a money pouch, a hand with ideas of how to help others and a heart with acts of kindness for Lent. There was also a game based on the story.

There were sausages, veg and mash for tea and some delicious puddings.

April Messy Church is on Sunday 12th from 4 to 6 pm. We now meet at All Saints Church Hall on Smedley Street and new people are very welcome. You don't need to book in, just come along to hear the story and join in with the crafts, activities and meal. Children must be accompanied by adults. This month's Messy Church is on Sunday at All Saints Church Hall, Smedley Street from 4 - 6 pm. We will be thinking about Lent and how we can show God's love by helping other people. There will be crafts, activities, songs and a meal for everyone. All children must be accompanied and it's all free but you can make a donation towards costs if you wish. February Messy Church was our 9th anniversary. Many people have joined us over the years but we still have two of our original families. New people are always welcome to join us.

We heard about the proverbs written by King Solomon. We learned about how hard working ants store food for the winter; how God helps us to find our way and is a strong tower where we are kept safe; and how kind words are sweet and healing like honey. We made paper plate ants, printed tracks with toys and paint, built tall towers from newspaper (very popular with the adults) and made a mess with honey and (plastic) bees! The older children also thought about what a proverb is and invented some of their own.
We ended the afternoon with jacket potatoes with various toppings and salad, followed by puddings and a delicious 9th birthday cake.

At January Messy Church we heard the story of how Jesus calmed the stormy sea of Gallilee when his friends were afraid. The crafts and activities included seeing what would sink and what would float, making musical instruments including a glass jar and water xylophone, decorating stones, decorating a stormy sea cake and making a boat which could be turned to swap from stormy to calm seas.

Messy Church this month is on Sunday (8th February) at All Saints Church Hall, from 4-6 pm, when we will be celebrating our 9th Anniversary.
