Last month at Messy Church we heard about how God supplied quails and special food called manna to his people in the desert. If you are wondering what manna was, so did the people who ate it. They called it manna because that meant "What is it?"

We made thankful quails, tried something like manna and hunted round the room for the words of a verse about trusting in God.
After singing and showing what people had made, we ate do-it-yourself sandwiches followed by cake and pudding. I don't suppose everyone had cake AND pudding but it's all so good that some of us couldn't resist!

This month's Messy Church is from 4-6pm on Sunday 11th. It is free to join in and new people are always welcome. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
We will be hearing about what happened next after last month's story, then there will be crafts, activities and singing followed by a meal for everyone. Donations towards costs are welcome but not expected.

Messy Church is back at All Saints Church Hall tomorrow from 4 to 6pm where we will be hearing about some unusual food which God provided in the desert. There will be crafts, puzzles, music and songs plus an interactive story and a meal for everyone. New people are always welcome, just remember children must be accompanied by an adult. It's all free. You can make a donation if you wish.

July Messy Church was about how Jesus chose Matthew the Tax collector to be on his team of disciples, which came as quite a surprise to some people. We heard that everyone is welcome to join Jesus team.

Activities included Jesus Team T shirts, decorating one cake to keep and one to give away, and a puppet set of the story. We finished with songs with drumming.

Messy Church is at All Saints Church Hall this Sunday (5th) from 4-6pm. There will be crafts, songs and a story about how Jesus made surprising friends. We finish with a meal for everyone and it is all free. You can make a donation if you wish. All children must be accompanied by adults.

Last month we heard how Jesus healed a woman who had the courage to reach out and touch the hem of his cloak and how he brought a young girl back to life. I completely forgot to take any photos so here are some of the mystery photos from the previous month, including some extra ones. Can you work out what they are?

This might be of interest to anyone with children in year 6.

The Circuit Youth Group will be moving to Tansley Methodist Church until the end of the term.
The youth group is open for 3 special nights to Year 6 children as well as those in senior school on the 26th June, 10th and 24th of July 6.30pm - 8pm. Includes a meal- usually pizza or hotdogs.

Messy Church is on Sunday (7th June) from 4-6 pm. (Apologies to anyone that I told it wouldn't be on this month!) Come along to All Saints Church Hall on Smedley Street to hear an interactive story and join in with crafts, a game and a meal. This month we will be hearing about two of the many times that Jesus healed people in need. All children must be accompanied and it is all free. Donations towards costs are welcome.

Last month we heard how after Jesus went back to heaven the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit and started to tell everyone about Jesus. The activities included a spreading the good news snooker table game, making Pentecost crowns and a going into all the world mobile.

May Messy Church is at All Saints Church Hall, Smedley Street on Sunday from 4 to 6 pm. Come along for crafts, games and songs based on an interactive story, and then join us for a meal. Last month we heard about Thomas who couldn't believe that Jesus was really alive again until he had seen him and touched his crucifixion wounds. We made 3D writing, played guess the object from how it feels and did a quiz to identify photos of items viewed from unusual angles. There was also an activity for the older children.

Last month we heard the story of the prodigal son but it could also be called the story of the forgiving and generous father. We thought about Lent and how we could help each other. The crafts included making a money pouch, a hand with ideas of how to help others and a heart with acts of kindness for Lent. There was also a game based on the story.

There were sausages, veg and mash for tea and some delicious puddings.
