St Giles Church Matlock Saint Giles is the ancient parish church of Matlock. Come to Sung Eucharist 9.30am Sunday, children's craft area and coffee afterwards.

Eucharist 10am Thursday, 8.30am Saturday. Morning Prayer 9.30am Monday, Wednesday, Thursday. Visit stgilesmatlock.co.uk Our church life is centred on the Sunday morning Sung Eucharist where, within the Anglican liturgy, we aim to combine the traditional and modern, the formal and relaxed, drawing worshippers of all ages. We aim to make the beauty and symbolism of our sacramental tradition available to a new generation. By our regular weekday celebrations of Holy Communion and our care for our much loved church building we provide a place where the Word of God may be heard in stillness and peace. Through our service in the local community, our social life and works of witness, we aim to be a channel by which men and women may seek God. REMINDER: The clocks go back at 2am on Sunday morning (25th October) marking the end of British Summer Time (BST) and the return to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). If you forget and arrive for the 9.30am Sunday Eucharist an hour early, don't worry. Just flick on the lights and pick up a hymn book, we won’t be long!

ANNIVERSARY NEWS: You may have noticed that the broken wooden bench by the church entrance has now been replaced by a sturdy recycled-plastic bench. The original bench was installed by Mothers' Union to celebrate their 100 year anniversary. 50 years later, the new replacement bench honours their 150th Anniversary. Our organist and a member of Matlock Mothers' Union, Chris, tested it out for us on Sunday morning. She explained that the Matlock members have been hard at work raising funds for the bench. Anyone passing is very welcome to sit and rest a while, with all our best wishes.

THANK YOU to everyone who brought along, or donated, Harvest produce at the Harvest Thanksgiving service. The produce was auctioned after the service by the wonderful Fred, and the total funds raised is now confirmed as £261. These much welcome funds will be spilt between the Bishop's Harvest Appeal and the upkeep of Saint Giles Church. Thank you everyone.

To mark Baby Loss Awareness Week (9-15 October) we invite you to come together in the Lady Chapel at 7pm-8pm on Thursday 15th October to remember together loved and precious ones. Please feel free to come and go as you wish during this time.

If you can't make Thursday, we have a dedicated place for babies to be remembered and for your Baby Loss prayers to be offered throughout this week. A space for you to light a candle in prayer, for you to drop a name into the Prayer box, and if you wish, to take a prayer card with you. Call in anytime as Saint Giles church is generally open every day.

If this week is too much for you, know that you and your loved ones are in our thoughts and prayers.

Congratulations to the gorgeous Toby and his delightful family. Toby was baptised by Rev'd Katrina on Sunday, during the Harvest Thanksgiving Service. It's fair to say he charmed the entire congregation, then fell sound asleep. Clearly it's exhausting work being adorable!

Saint Giles church is generally open every day and our Prayer Corner is always available, but from this Sunday to mark Baby Loss Awareness Week (9-15 October), we have a dedicated place for babies to be remembered and for your Baby Loss prayers to be offered. A space for you to light a candle in prayer, for you to drop a name into the Prayer box, and if you wish, to take a prayer card with you.

Baby Loss Awareness Week (9–15 October) is a time for people across the pregnancy and baby loss communities, and beyond, to come together, remember much-loved and missed babies, reflect on experiences of loss in whatever way feels right, and raise awareness of pregnancy and baby loss.
