An enormous WELL DONE to all our children for an amazing Harvest Festival today. Performing a wonderful mix of traditional and modern songs, the full church audience was wowed.

Thank you to our families for watching and for your generous donations, and to Marsden Parish Church (St Bartholomew's) for hosting.

24th August - St Bartholomew's Day. Two depictions of the Saint and Apostle of Christ, about whom little is actually known. He is believed to have travelled to India and Armenia to spread the word of God and to tell of Christ. Various theories of his death exist, one of which is that he was tortured by being flayed (skinned) alive; so you will often see him carrying a skinning knife and with what appears at first sight to be a cloak over his arm, but on close inspection it is a skin in human form. The first photo below is of his statue in St Bartholomew's Church and the second is his statue outside Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, where his "skin" is shown across his lap.
