Your inheritance

'As [Jesus] is, so are we.' 1 John 4:17 NKJV

We share the same inheritance as Jesus! Whatever he has, we have! 'As [Jesus] is, so are we' (1 John 4:17 NKJV). So, if we are co-heirs with Jesus, why do we struggle through life? For two reasons:

(1) We don't know about our inheritance: 'The exceeding greatness of his power towards us who believe' (Ephesians 1:19 NKJV). No one ever told us that instead of fighting for victory, we fight from a position of victory. If you have given your heart to Jesus, he 'has blessed [you] with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ' (Ephesians 1:3 NKJV). Notice the word 'has'. You already possess everything you need to be everything God desires. You have access to 'every spiritual blessing'. That also means God will 'equip you with all you need for doing his will' (Hebrews 13:21 NLT).

(2) We don't believe in our inheritance. Imagine what would happen if a generation of Christians lived out of their inheritance. The lonely would find comfort in God, not in the arms of strangers. Struggling couples would spend more time in prayer and less time in anger. Children would consider it a blessing to take care of their ageing parents. 'God's power is very great for us who believe. That power is the same as the great strength God used to raise Christ from the dead' (Ephesians 1:19-20 NCV). The same indwelling Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead will turn every one of your 'I can'ts' into an 'I can': 'I can do all things through Christ, because he gives me strength' (Philippians 4:13 NCV).

MEMORISE: But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen. 2 Peter 3:18

READ: Matthew 13:5-6, 20-21 Open Heavens 3 June 2026

5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:

6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;

21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Job 31-34

Open Heavens 3 June MESSAGE: –

The second kind of soil Jesus described in His parable about the sower is ‘Stony places’. This soil type can be compared to people who receive the word of God with joy but turn their backs on it when they begin to encounter tough situations in their lives as a result of persecution.

Remember the word that I said unto you, the servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you… John 15:20 In the Scripture above, Jesus said that His followers will be persecuted as He was also persecuted. Furthermore, Paul told Timothy in 2 Timothy 3:12 that every true follower of Christ will experience persecution in one form or another.

Being persecuted is a painful experience, and believers are not immune to it. In fact, going through the fires of persecution helps Christians to grow in faith (1 Peter 1:6-7, James 1:2-3). Despite this, however, the devil manages to convince some believers that the pain they are experiencing as a result of persecution is proof that God is unfaithful and that He does not love them. The devil succeeds in doing this because such Christians have not grown in the knowledge of God through His word and are largely ignorant of His ways, character, and power. Thus, their foundation in faith is very weak, and they are easily swayed by the devil. It is good to hear the word of God and even be excited by it.

Beyond that, however, every believer has the responsibility to build themselves up spiritually (1 Corinthians 3:9-1 0), and one of the ways to do this is by increasing their knowledge of God through His word. There is a popular saying that ignorance is bliss, but this is not true for a believer. Being in a state of ignorance about the word of God and making no efforts to build yourself up spiritually is very dangerous because it can lead to destruction (Hosea 4:6).

Beloved, do not allow yourself to fall victim to the wiles of the devil and be destroyed by him. Don’t just listen to the word of God from various ministers and get excited by it or be a believer who only opens the Bible on Sundays. Rather, be like the Bereans who took responsibility for knowing God by themselves (Acts 17:10-11). I pray that as you sow the seeds of the word of God daily into your heart, you will reap bountiful fruits of His goodness and mercy, in Jesus’ name.

Key Point – Open Heavens 3 June 2026

Growing in the knowledge of God through His word is important for every believer.

Open Heavens 3 June 2026 Wednesday Hymn

Hymn 4: To The Work, To The Work

1 To the work! to the work! we are servants of God,

Let us follow the path that our Master has trod;

With the balm of His counsel our strength to renew,

Let us do with our might what our hands find to do.

Refrain:

Toiling on, toiling on,

Toiling on, toiling on:

Let us hope, let us watch,

And labor till the Master comes.

2 To the work! to the work! let the hungry be fed;

To the fountain of life let the weary be led;

In the cross and its banner our glory shall be,

While we herald the tidings, “Salvation is free!”

3 To the work! to the work! there is labor for all;

For the kingdom of darkness and error shall fall;

And the name of Jehovah exalted shall be,

In the loud-swelling chorus, “Salvation is free!”

4 To the work! to the work! in the strength of the Lord,

And a robe and a crown shall our labor reward;

When the home of the faithful our dwelling shall be,

And we shout with the ransomed, “Salvation is free!”

Prayer Points for Open Heavens 3 June 2026 – A Brand-New Heart III

1. Father, I thank You for the privilege of growing in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Thank You for Your word that builds me up, in Jesus’ name.

2. Lord, I ask for mercy for every time I have received Your word with joy but turned back when persecution or tribulation arose, in Jesus’ name.

3. Father, give me deep roots in Your word. Let me not be like the stony ground where the seed springs up quickly but withers under the heat of trials, in Jesus’ name.

4. Lord, help me to understand that persecution is part of the Christian journey and that it works patience and maturity in me. Let me not be offended because of Your word, in Jesus’ name.

5. Father, deliver me from the destruction that comes from lack of knowledge. Let me not be ignorant of Your ways, character, and power, in Jesus’ name.

6. Lord, make me like the Bereans, who searched the Scriptures daily to confirm what they were taught. Let me take personal responsibility for knowing You through Your word, in Jesus’ name.

7. Father, build me up spiritually so that my foundation in faith is strong. Let no wind of false doctrine or wave of persecution shake me, in Jesus’ name.

8. Lord, I receive the grace to not only listen to sermons and get excited but to also study Your word for myself. Let me not be a Sunday-only Christian, in Jesus’ name.

9. Father, let every seed of Your word sown in my heart produce a bountiful harvest of righteousness, peace, and joy, regardless of the trials I face, in Jesus’ name.

10. My personal prayer point: (Mention specific areas where you have been weak in studying God’s word or where persecution has caused you to stumble, and ask God for a deeper root).

11. Thank You, Father, for hearing my prayer. I believe I am growing in grace and knowledge, and Your word is taking deep root in my heart, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.

Believe for abundance

'The Lord your God will make you abound.' Deuteronomy 30:9 NKJV

A young artist called her aunt one day to let her know she was leaving on a trip to a fashionable resort to try and sell her wood carvings of seabirds to the owner of a gift shop. She asked her aunt to pray that her venture would be successful. Her aunt assured her that she would pray for the largest order she had ever received! That evening, the young artist called her aunt back. Not only had the gift shop owner purchased all her carvings, but the owner of a chain of gift shops had also ordered as many carvings as she could make! She was filled with wonder at how abundantly God had answered prayer. 'Now,' she said to her aunt, 'pray that I can fill his order!' Her aunt replied, 'The Lord doesn't open a door unless he expects us to walk through it successfully. When we pray for rain, don't be surprised when you get a cloudburst!'

Are you praying for God to meet a need in your life? What answer are you expecting? Be honest. Bare minimum? Meagre-but-satisfactory? Or are you expecting an abundant, more-than-enough supply?

Stand on God's word: 'The Lord your God will make you abound in all the work of your hand' (Deuteronomy 30:9 NKJV). Jesus said, 'I have come that they may have life, and...have it more abundantly' (John 10:10 NKJV). Paul wrote: 'God is able to make all grace abound towards you, that you, may have an abundance for every good work' (2 Corinthians 9:8 NKJV). So, believe God for abundance.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Job 25-30

MESSAGE: –

The first type of soil that Jesus mentioned in the Parable of the Sower is The way side’, as we see in today’s Bible reading. This soil type refers to people who hear God’s word but do not understand it or act upon it. This category of people do not study their Bibles, and even when they do, they don’t ask their pastors or Bible Study teachers any questions. They never seek to understand God’s word; they only hear His word and move on with their lives. Many of the people in this category are ceremonial churchgoers; they are often raised in Christian homes; so it is normal for them to attend church on Sundays. I was once this type of Christian. I thought that my father, being a church volunteer, and my name being Enoch, was proof that I was a child of God. I heard God’s word several times, but I never studied it. I thank God that He gave me a new heart when I surrendered my life to Jesus Christ.

Beloved, are you the same way I was? Are you only reading this devotional because it is the norm in your church, family, or office to do so? Do you ever dig deeper to understand what is discussed? When you study your Bible, do you get bored after reading the second or third verse? If you answered “Yes” to these questions, you need to ask God for a new heart; a heart that yearns to know Him more. Ask God to give you a heart that finds His word interesting and loves to spend time in His presence. Most importantly, ensure that you take some time every day to study your Bible. You can start by reading a bit further on the topics discussed in this devotional each day, or using the Bible-in-one-year passages. You may not understand much when you begin doing these things, but as you remain consistent and ask God to help you, the Holy Spirit will start explaining the Scriptures to you, and soon, your heart will begin to soak in God’s word and yield great fruit.

The best thing you can do for yourself is to seek to understand God’s word more each day. When you make this your priority, you will begin to experience His peace and favour in ways you have never done before. I pray that your life will indeed be a bountiful harvest of God’s goodness, in Jesus’ name.

Prayer Point – Open Heavens 2 June 2026

Father, please give me a heart that yearns for Your word more than anything else.

Hymn 3: Ancient Word

1 Holy words long preserved

for our walk in this world,

They resound with God’s own heart

Oh, let the Ancient words impart.

CHORUS

Ancient words ever true

Changing me, and changing you.

We have come with open hearts

Oh let the ancient words impart.

2 Words of Life, words of Hope

Give us strength, help us cope

In this world, where e’er we roam

Ancient words will guide us Home.

3 Holy words of our Faith

Handed down to this age.

Came to us through sacrifice

Oh heed the faithful words of Christ.

4 Holy words long preserved

For our walk in this world.

They resound with God’s own heart

Oh let the ancient words impart.

1. Father, I thank You for Your word that is living and powerful. Thank You for the privilege of studying the Scriptures and knowing You more, in Jesus’ name.

2. Lord, I ask for mercy for every time I have heard Your word without seeking to understand it, or attended church ceremonies without a genuine hunger for You, in Jesus’ name.

3. Father, give me a heart that pants after You as the hart pants after water brooks. Let my soul thirst for the living God above everything else, in Jesus’ name.

4. Lord, deliver me from the wayside soil—where the wicked one snatches the word from my heart before it can take root. Let me not be a ceremonial churchgoer, in Jesus’ name.

5. Father, remove every boredom and dullness I feel when reading Your word. Let the Scriptures become alive and exciting to me, and let me hunger to know more each day, in Jesus’ name.

6. Lord, help me to study my Bible diligently, to ask questions, and to seek deeper understanding. Let me not be satisfied with surface-level knowledge, in Jesus’ name.

7. Father, as I read the Bible-in-one-year passages and meditate on Your word, let the Holy Spirit explain the Scriptures to me. Open my eyes to see wonderful things in Your law, in Jesus’ name.

8. Lord, turn my heart into good ground—fertile, receptive, and ready to produce a hundredfold harvest from Your word. Let Your word bear fruit in every area of my life, in Jesus’ name.

9. Father, I pray for everyone who has grown cold towards Your word. Rekindle the fire of love for Scripture in their hearts. Let them experience Your peace and favor as they prioritize Your word, in Jesus’ name.

10. My personal prayer point: (Mention specific struggles with Bible reading, comprehension, or consistency, and ask God for a new heart that yearns for His word).

11. Thank You, Father, for hearing my prayer. I believe You are giving me a brand-new heart that loves Your word, and my life will be a bountiful harvest of Your goodness, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.

P.R.A.Y.

'We will give ourselves continually to prayer.' Acts 6:4 NKJV

In her book 30 Days to a Stronger, More Confident You, author Deborah Smith Pegues uses the word 'pray' as an acronym:

'Pause. I stop all activity and focus completely on God. Worship is total preoccupation...The greatest honour and respect we can give to anyone is our undivided attention...Reverence. I express my admiration for all his attributes...At this point, distractions start to pop up like dandelions...I will suddenly remember a task I need to put on my to-do list. I have learned to jot down the task in my journal and ignore the other issues for what they are - mere distractions that can be dealt with later. I have also learned that praying audibly helps to minimise wandering thoughts...Ask. I ask for forgiveness for my sins, making every effort to be specific. I pray for the power to live a Christian life and ask God to give me a passion for his word and prayer. I ask for his will to be done in every aspect of my life: spiritually, physically, financially, relationally, vocationally and emotionally...Yield. I must subordinate my requests to God's sovereign will, trusting that he knows what is best. I strive to maintain a "nevertheless" attitude. Therefore, I am careful to conclude my prayer by saying, "Nevertheless, not my will, Lord, but yours be done" [see Luke 22:42]...The old adage that it is not what you know but whom you know that gives you the advantage in a situation is true - especially from a spiritual perspective. When we have a relationship with God, we understand that he is sufficient to handle any demand placed upon us.'

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Job 21-24

Open Heavens 1 June 2026
MESSAGE: – Open Heavens 1 June 2026 Monday Daily Devotional

According to 2 Corinthians 5:17, when a fellow becomes born again, he or she immediately becomes a new creature. In Ezekiel 36:26, God said that He will take away our stony heart and replace it with a heart of flesh. When people give their lives to Jesus Christ, they exchange their stony hearts for hearts of flesh.

However, despite this, the world is plagued with many people who claim to be believers, but whose hearts appear not to be different from those of unbelievers.

Sadly, some people who serve as ministers of God also still appear to have hearts like unbelievers. Some of them go as far as not forgiving fellow ministers who have offended them. This is wrong, and it was not so at the inception of the Church. The Bible says that the Church was in one accord (Acts 1:14), and believers were called Christians because they were Christ-like (Acts 11:26).

Unfortunately, however, you might find some self- professing Christians today accepting bribes or dancing in nightclubs because they still have stony hearts.

From the Parable of the Sower in Matthew 13:1-23, it is very clear that there was nothing wrong with the seeds that were sown. The seeds, which Jesus revealed to be the word of God, were potent, as God’s word is always potent. However, despite the potency of the seeds, only a fraction of them yielded a harvest. The reason some of the seeds did not bear fruit was the ground on which they fell, and as Jesus explained, the heart of a fellow in which the word of God is sown is the major determinant of whether the word will bearfruit in his or her life or not.

Beloved, if you are living in sin, or if you allow the circumstances around you to determine how you receive the word of God and how it will operate in you, then you have a stony heart, and God’s word will not bear fruit in you. For His word to bear fruit in you, you must repent of any sin that might exist in your life and cry out to Him to wash you clean, transform you, and give you a heart of flesh. God will answer you and make your heart a fertile ground for His word to grow. I pray that you will continually experience the blessings in God’s word as you surrender your life completely to Him, in Jesus’ name.

PRAYER POINT – Open Heavens 1 June 2026

Father, please give me a heart of flesh and let Your word bear fruit in me.

Open Heavens 1 June 2026 Monday Hymn

Hymn 7: I Am Thine O Lord

1 I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice,

And it told Thy love to me;

But I long to rise in the arms of faith,

And be closer drawn to Thee.

Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,

To the cross where Thou hast died;

Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,

To Thy precious, bleeding side.

2 Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,

By the pow’r of grace divine;

Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,

And my will be lost in Thine.

3 O the pure delight of a single hour

That before Thy throne I spend,

When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God,

I commune as friend with friend!

4 There are depths of love that I yet may know

Ere Thee face to face I see;

There are heights of joy that I yet may reach

Ere I rest in peace with Thee.

Prayer Points for Open Heavens 1 June 2026 – A Brand-New Heart

1. Father, I thank You for the promise of a new heart and a new spirit. Thank You for Your willingness to take away my stony heart and replace it with a heart of flesh, in Jesus’ name.

2. Lord, I ask for mercy for every time I have allowed my heart to remain stony, hard, and unresponsive to Your word, in Jesus’ name.

3. Father, according to Ezekiel 36:25, sprinkle clean water upon me and cleanse me from all my filthiness and from all my idols. Let me be wholly pure before You, in Jesus’ name.

4. Lord, take away my stony heart—the heart that refuses to forgive, the heart that loves sin, and the heart that is insensitive to Your Spirit. Give me a heart of flesh, tender and responsive to Your will, in Jesus’ name.

5. Father, put Your Spirit within me and cause me to walk in Your statutes, keep Your judgments, and do them. Let my obedience not be forced but flow from a transformed heart, in Jesus’ name.

6. Lord, I break up my fallow ground. Remove every hardness, every root of bitterness, and every resistance to Your word in my life. Let the seed of Your word take deep root and bear abundant fruit, in Jesus’ name.

7. Father, I repent of every sin that has made my heart like the wayside, the stony ground, or the thorny ground in the Parable of the Sower. Let my heart be the good ground that produces a hundredfold, in Jesus’ name.

8. Lord, I pray for every minister and believer whose heart still resembles that of an unbeliever. Give them a brand-new heart and restore the joy of Your salvation, in Jesus’ name.

9. Father, as You promised in Ezekiel 36:29-30, save me from all my uncleannesses, multiply the fruit of my labor, and let me receive no more reproach. Let my life be a testimony of Your transforming power, in Jesus’ name.

10. My personal prayer point: (Mention specific areas of hardness, unforgiveness, or sin in your heart that need to be replaced with a heart of flesh).

11. Thank You, Father, for hearing my cry. I believe You are giving me a brand-new heart, and Your word will bear fruit in me abundantly, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.

God is with you

'I am with you always.' Matthew 28:20 NKJV

To have a personal relationship with someone, there must be two-way communication. Even the most uncommunicative spouse has to grunt occasionally, or it isn't a marriage - it's a monologue. So, the Lord being with you, and you being with the Lord, takes place primarily in your mind. Two people may occupy the same room, but if one of them is sleeping or engrossed in television, they're not really with each other. There must be interactive awareness.

Now, as human beings, we don't have 'direct access' to each other's thoughts. We can use words, human touch or hand gestures to guide another person's thoughts. But God is infinite rather than finite, so he is able to guide our thoughts directly. He can speak to us through Scripture or through the words of another person. But he can also plant his thoughts directly in our minds. 'We have the mind of Christ' (1 Corinthians 2:16 NKJV). And this can happen anytime, anywhere.

So, your mind is your meeting place with God! There's much about God speaking to you that's a mystery. There are no formulas. You cannot control God's communication with you. You cannot force him to speak by being more pious or more sincere or by working hard. Jesus told Nicodemus: 'The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit' (John 3:8 NKJV). This much you can be certain of today: God is with you, and he will speak to you if you take the time to listen.
