Heaton Park Methodist Church

02/10/2026

We in the Bury Methodist Circuit stand with and pray for our Jewish sisters and brothers in response to the appalling attack on the Jewish Community at Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue. An attack on any day would be awful but on Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish Calendar, it is made even worse.

There may be many things that make communities different, but our humanity is rooted in the shared belief that we are made in the image of God, and we offer our wholehearted support, love and prayers to the Jewish Community in Bury, Manchester, and across the country.

As it has so often in the past, we are sure Manchester will rise in response to these horrible events as a city – united, demonstrating the love and care that makes this region such a special place to live, and we will do all we can to be a part of that.

God of peace,
We offer you our prayers for the community of the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue,
For those who have been injured, we pray for your healing
For those who have died and their families and friends, we pray for your presence and embrace
For those who filled with fear and anxiety, we pray for your peace
For those who have bravely responded from the public and emergency services, we pray for strength
For those in the wider community who are hurting at the wounds to their local brothers and sisters, we pray for comfort
Today, may we hear your words of peace and love
May we enact them in every part of our lives
And may we be rooted in the truth of your image being at the very heart of our shared humanity.
In the name of Christ, the Prince of Peace we pray
Amen

We had a great time worshipping together with our friends from Prestwich Methodist Church this morning!

It's always great to worship with our brothers and sisters in Christ!

Come and join us every Sunday at 11.00am 🥳

Today we spent an away day at St Paul's Church discussing, praying, and worshipping together.

We were considering what God may be calling us to as a church and what the future may hold.

We were so into the conversations and discussions that we completely forgot to take any photos 🤦

Edit: Apparently we did remember one photo 😂

It's that time of year again! (For some, I know you've already been busy knitting away!)

It's the annual call for knitted angels! This year once again we are going Supermarket carol singing on Saturday 5th December from 10am and as well as the usual chocolate and flyers we want to be able to hand out knitted angels with a little Christmas message, but to do this we need your knitting skills!

If you are able to get knitting please can you pass on as many knitted angels as you can by Sunday 29th November so we can get all the tags attached ready for the Supermarket Carols!

If you need the pattern, just drop us a message and we can send it through. Happy knitting!

Check out the pictures for some examples of what our angels have got up to in the past!

We're very sorry to say that we have had to cancel the return of Little People's Prestwich that was due to begin next Saturday (10th October). Unfortunately we have not been able to get together the necessary team of leaders to ensure the sessions can run safely and well for everyone involved.

We hope there may be a chance to bring it back in the New Year, so watch this space, but for now Little People's Prestwich remains on a break.

HARVEST 2026: "AN ITEM A WEEK"

Our Harvest service will be held on Sunday 4 th October. To help our Food Pantry, all donations of non-perishable produce will be gratefully received, as will any financial donations.

Like last year we would like to suggest that we ask for donations in a different way, by donating ‘an item a week’ in the run up to our Harvest celebration service. Each week bring an item from the list and pop it into our harvest container in the small hall.

Week 1 – 13th September - pasta, rice or cereals.
Week 2 – 20th September – coffee or sugar.
Week 3 – 27th September – tinned vegetables or tinned fruit.
Week 4 – 4th October - tinned meats.

Financial donations can be put in an envelope (available on the entrance table). Either cash, cheque or card will be gratefully received.

If you have any questions, feel free to approach any of the Food Pantry team.
