🌸🐿️🌻 HAPPY SUNDAY, WALKDEN! 🌻🐿️🌸
Well, it’s another “lazy” Sunday here at Walkden in Bloom… although someone forgot to tell us what the word lazy means! 😂☕️
We’ve been up since 5am this morning, armed with tea, biscuits and enough enthusiasm to power the whole of Walkden, jotting down everything that’s been happening this week and what’s coming next. 📝☕️
And with a little rain in the air, our plants have been absolutely blooming with excitement! 🌧️🌺🌼
Our newest residents — the little birds 🐦 — have also been secretly messaging us from the flower beds asking if we could arrange some bird boxes so they can start expanding their families. 🏡🐦😂
We wrote back:
“Don’t worry, little birdies… we know the wonderful people of Walkden will come to the rescue!” ❤️🐦
And this morning we’re writing from Parr Fold Park, where the squirrels appear to have completely lost the plot. 🐿️🤣
I’m fairly certain I’ve just seen one on the basketball court using a nut as a basketball. 🏀🥜
Either that or I need another brew. ☕️😂
Right… grab yourself a brew, give your furry friends a cuddle and a treat, and let’s get rolling! 🚀🌻
🗑️👏 BIG SHOUT-OUT TO OUR AMAZING COUNCIL TEAM!
Our first HUGE shout goes to the fantastic team at Salford Council. 👏❤️
These brilliant people have been keeping the bins emptied and, on top of that, they’ve been out doing a trolley sweep, collecting over 38 abandoned shopping trolleys! 🛒🛒🛒
Now, we know that collecting trolleys isn’t necessarily their job… but they did it because they care about our town. ❤️
Sometimes we don’t notice the work people do because it happens quietly in the background.
But we see you. 👀❤️
You’re helping keep Walkden clean, tidy and looking its best, and we genuinely take our hats off to every one of you. 🎩👏
A massive thank you also goes to Elaine Walker, who has been reporting abandoned trolleys and helping us tackle the problem. 🙌
We’ll soon be meeting with the relevant stakeholders to see if we can put a permanent process in place.
🌱💚 OUR YOUNG PEOPLE ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE!
Working in partnership with Remedi, BodyMind Educate and Walkden in Bloom, our amazing young people have been getting stuck in and making a real difference across our community. 💪🌍
They’ve been:
🌱 Cleaning
🌸 Replanting
🌼 Brightening local areas
🤝 Working together
💪 Building confidence
🧠 Learning new skills
❤️ Making positive connections
And honestly… watching them get involved has been absolutely fantastic.
Their hard work, dedication and teamwork have been brilliant to see. 👏👏👏
They aren’t just improving our community — they are becoming part of it.
A massive WELL DONE to every single young person involved. ❤️
You should all be incredibly proud of yourselves.
And we certainly are. 🥹❤️🌻
🥕🌱 DOWN AT THE ALLOTMENT
Our Green Team have been working hard making sure our vegetables are watered and looked after. 💚🥕🌽
Although… we appear to have a few tiny criminals operating in the area! 👀😂
We’ve had caterpillars interfering with our vegetables. 🐛🥬😂
We’re not naming names…
…but the caterpillars have been warned! 🐛🚨😂
A stern meeting has been held and we have asked them to kindly leave our plants alone.
Whether they listened is another matter entirely! 😂
💚 And a HUGE thank you to Mrs Walkden, who nipped down to water the plants just in time! 💦🌱
You know who you are, and once again you’ve come to the rescue! ❤️👏
Because when the plants are thirsty, Mrs Walkden is on the case! 😂🌻💦
Our Green Team might have their hands full with vegetables, caterpillars and everything else that comes with keeping our little patch of Walkden blooming, but it’s people like you who make all the difference.
Thank you, Mrs Walkden! ❤️🌻
The plants are happy, the Green Team are smiling, and the caterpillars are currently under investigation. 🐛😂🚨
🌺👏 HEADS UP GENTLEMEN!
A huge shout-out to the Heads up Gentlemen team, who have been doing fantastic work in Little Hulton, planting more flowers and helping make the precinct shine. 🌸🌺🌼
It’s not just looking cleaner — the whole vibe is changing.
And we absolutely love seeing it. ❤️
Before long, we’ll have planters and flowers stretching from the top of Little Hulton all the way down towards Walkden!
Now THAT is something to be proud of. 🌻💪
🪴🌸 NEW RAILING PLANTERS!
Another massive shout-out goes to Andy at Jim Barlow Stationers for helping organise our new railing planters. 👏🪴
Andy, your commitment to our community is genuinely outstanding.
From helping with our leaflets, to helping Uncle Bulgaria with the certificates 😂📜, you’re always there getting stuck in and helping make things happen.
You’re a proper community hero, and we appreciate everything you do. ❤️👏
🎉🌻 NEXT SATURDAY — YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS THIS!
Now, after all that hard work, it’s time to tell you what’s coming next!

Put it in your diary!
🥹❤️ AND FINALLY… A MASSIVE THANK YOU TO YOU.
Before our brains completely freeze from all this typing… 🧠❄️😂
We want to say something from the bottom of our hearts.
THANK YOU. ❤️
Thank you to every resident who comes out week after week.
Thank you to the people who stop for a chat.
Thank you to those who simply say, “Hello.” 👋
Thank you to those who say, “That looks amazing!” 🌸
Thank you to the people who donate, volunteer, plant, water, clean, report problems, share our posts and cheer us on.
Sometimes you might think it’s only a little gesture…
…but believe us…
those little moments of kindness mean more than you know. 🥹❤️
They keep us going.
They remind us why we do what we do.
And they prove something very special about our community:
🌻 When Walkden comes together, amazing things happen. 🌻
So keep doing what Walkden does best…
❤️ Keep caring.
🤝 Keep helping each other.
🌸 Keep making things beautiful.
😊 Keep spreading positivity.
🌻 And above all… keep smiling!
A HUGE thank you to our amazing sponsors and supporters who help make so much of this possible:
💚 The National Lottery Community Fund
💚 ForHousing Salford
💚 Salford City Council
💚 The Wombles Society
Without the support of our community, volunteers, partners and sponsors, so much of what you see simply wouldn’t happen.
So from all of us at Walkden in Bloom…
🥹🌻 THANK YOU.
Now go out there, smile at somebody and spread a little happiness.
Because smiling is infectious…
…and thankfully, there’s no vaccine for it! 😂😂😂
Have a beautiful Sunday, Walkden. ❤️🌸🌻
Keep blooming. Keep caring. Keep smiling. 🌻❤️😊
