“Caritas has helped me a lot. I feel safe here…you listen to me, check on me, and help me
when I have problems. It feels like people care about me here, and stopped me sleeping
on the streets.”

When people are experiencing times of crisis, a helping hand and a safe environment can make such a difference. From the family homeless due to a house fire, to the man sleeping on the streets after an accident left him disabled and without a place to live. There isn't one story - everyone is different with different experiences, needs and wishes.

We run a range of services to support people experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of becoming so - from day centres to help as they transform their lives, to supported accommodation that is safe and secure.

Could you please help us be there by taking part in the Big Sleep Out on 10 October 2026, World Homeless Day?

Dust off your sleeping bag, sleep under the stars at our event and help tackle homelessness for an adult or child in our area.

Every penny raised will help to prevent homelessness or to support those who are already homeless. And a donation of £1,500 could sponsor a room for a whole year in a Caritas supported accommodation project, meaning that someone is not forced to sleep rough or ‘sofa surf’.

At a recent Cook Well session at our Red Door centre in Bury, people learnt tips on how to use leftovers, cut costs and budget well. They made broccoli and blue cheese soup, and some tasty salmon fishcakes too.

The group also helped to cut fruit for the freezer, to be used for smoothies.

Delicious!

All are welcome to drop in and join free sessions - visit www.caritassalford.org.uk/RedDoor for more information.

There's still time to join our summer appeal and make a donation to help local children who are experiencing poverty.

Demand for our services supporting families experiencing poverty and acute crisis in the area continues to rise significantly.

Can you please help us support as many as possible?
