This page represents Diamond Way Buddhist group of the Karma Kagyu Tradition under the spiritual guidance of His Holiness the 17th Karmapa, Trinley Thaye Dorje, and directed by Lama Ole Nydahl. Our centres are not abstract institutions but friendly places where all can meet to learn from Buddha's timeless wisdom, meditate, share experience and development, and actively participate and do the wor..

.k which makes all this possible. In 1969 Ole Nydahl and his wife Hannah met the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa, historically the first incarnate lama of Tibet. Since then the teachings of Diamond Way Buddhism have gradually found their way to the West. His Holiness asked them to teach, establish meditation centres and ensure that the teachings would remain alive and attractive to intelligent, critical, lay people in the Western world. The Karma Kagyu Lineage is one of the major schools of Tibetan Buddhism. As a lineage of direct oral transmission, it especially treasures meditation, and through interaction with a qualified teacher can bring about the full and direct experience of the nature of mind. The Karma Kagyu methods were taught by the historical Buddha Shakyamuni to his closest students.

How can we make our body more disciplined, with a greater capacity to work?

Lama Ole’s answer:

The best method in Diamond Way Buddhism is the 111,111 prostrations. If you have forced yourself through this practice, then everything in life is easy. Once you work your way through this intensive treatment, then the body isn’t a difficult master anymore but rather a good servant. Then you can use it for what you want to do, and it won’t be all crooked and obstructed anymore. After the prostrations, your body will be completely different.

I would give everybody this advice: use the prostrations to push out all the drugs, all the laziness, all the compromises, all the things you have constrained yourself with—forcefully blow all this out of yourself with the help of the prostrations and then move on.

BIRTHDAY OF SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA

7th day of the 4th Lunar month

Buddha (Siddhartha Gautama) was born in Lumbini in 623 BCE.
Lumbini (Sanskrit: लुम्बिनी) has a number of temples, including the Mayadevi Temple and several others which are still under construction. Many monuments, monasteries and a museum are also located within the holy site.
The present-day Lumbini historic site is 4.8 kilometres (3 miles) in length and 1.6 kilometres (1.0 miles) in width. The holy site of Lumbini in Nepal is bordered by a large monastic zone in which only monasteries can be built, no shops, hotels or restaurants. The holy site of Lumbini has ruins of ancient monasteries, a sacred Bodhi tree, an ancient bathing pond, the Ashokan pillar and the Mayadevi Temple, where the supposed place of birth of Buddha is located.
Effects of all positive and negative actions are multiplied 100,000 (lakh or one hundred thousand) times!
