At the end of the month Revd. Canon Ian Rutherford 'sits down' - the fancy Methodist way of saying that he retires!

Yesterday we were able to share in one last Communion service with Ian as City Centre Minister. After words of thanks and gratitude from multiple people, and a powerful message from Revd Dr Jen Smith of Wesley's Chapel & Leysian Mission, we were able to say one of many 'goodbyes' with grateful hearts. No, not grateful that Ian is leaving, but grateful that we have known him, and can call him a friend and colleage.

As Ian moves on to new pastures, new challenges, and new opportunities, we wanted to make sure that he was reminded of where he has come from. The places that have made Ian 'Ian'.

So, from friends and colleagues here at Central Hall MCR, we just want to say... Ian, fare thee well.

In those times when everything seems to be at a loss, what do you value the most?
Maybe it really is raindrops on roses. Or even whiskers on kittens.

But in those times when you feel like there really is nowhere else to turn, then remember the words of Romans 8:38-39...
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Gods love really is for all.

This week it's Christian Aid week. The opportunity to reflect on their essential work here in the UK and across the globe.

This year the focus is on food poverty, and the impact that it has. With 1 in 10 households in the UK experiencing food poverty, the current cost of living crisis leaves many families in need.
In need of food.
In need of hope.
In need of change.

And it's a change that we are all hungry for.

Do you ever feel like you're not alone?
Do you ever feel like the person you have met knows more than they are letting on?
Do you ever feel like there is something more to a conversation that is immediately obvious?

Perhaps, just perhaps, you've been in the presence of Jesus, and you've not quite realised it.
Not recognised him quickly enough.
Not really looked at the person you are with.

Perhaps, just perhaps, if we all did that more often, then we'd realise just how often we meet Jesus on the road... in the supermarket... in the pub.

And if we did, perhaps, just perhaps, we'd talk a little bit more notice of those around us, and how we can impact their lives.

Lifeshare are running their Christmas Project in Mosaic MCR from 7am - 7pm until Friday 26th. And if you can't make it into Manchester, there's people on hand to speak to.
