A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us today for our Mass with the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick as part of St Bernard's Parish's 85th Anniversary celebrations.

It was wonderful to see so many parishioners, families, friends, and visitors gathered together in faith and prayer. The Anointing of the Sick is one of the Church's great treasures, bringing Christ's healing presence, strength, and peace to those facing illness, frailty, or the challenges that come with age.

Thank you to all who attended and helped make the celebration so special. Your presence created a prayerful and uplifting atmosphere, reminding us once again of the strength of our parish family.

A special word of thanks to the Legion of Mary for providing and serving refreshments after Mass. Your generosity and hospitality were greatly appreciated and gave everyone the opportunity to spend time together in friendship and fellowship.

As we continue our 85th Anniversary Year, we give thanks to God for all who have built, sustained, and supported our parish over the years. May the Lord continue to bless our parish community and all those who call it home.

As we bring our 85th Anniversary Celebrations to a close, we invite you to join us for a special Mass with the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick.

Saturday 6th June at 12 Noon

It is fitting that we conclude this year of thanksgiving by gathering around the Lord’s healing presence. During Mass, those who are sick, elderly, frail, or in need of God’s strength and comfort will have the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of the Sick.

This beautiful sacrament brings peace, courage and grace to those facing the challenges of illness, age or infirmity.

“Are any among you sick? Let them send for the elders of the Church, and let the elders pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord.” (James 5:14)

As we give thanks for 85 years of faith, community and hope, let us entrust ourselves and our loved ones to the healing mercy of Christ.

All are warmly welcome.

A beautiful and moving evening in our parish church as we gathered for our Litany of Light and Names as part of our 85th Anniversary celebrations.

Over 300 names were read aloud, each one remembered with love, and a candle was lit in their honour. Some names brought smiles as cherished memories came flooding back. Others brought tears as we remembered those whose absence is still deeply felt. Every name told a story, every candle represented a life, and every prayer carried a loved one to the heart of God.

It was wonderful to see so many parishioners, families, and friends gathered together. As the church filled with the gentle glow of candlelight, there was a powerful sense of faith, hope, and remembrance. In those moments we were reminded that love never dies, and that those who have touched our lives remain forever part of us.

This special evening was a fitting part of our 85th Anniversary celebrations, giving thanks for all those who have helped build, shape, and sustain our parish community over the years. We remembered not only those whose names were read aloud, but also the countless generations whose faith, sacrifice, and witness have brought us to this milestone year.

Thank you to everyone who submitted names, attended, and helped make the evening possible. Your presence created a moving witness to the strength of our parish family and the importance of remembering those who have gone before us marked with the sign of faith.

May all those whose names were read tonight rest in peace, and may perpetual light shine upon them.

Mgr. Michael and Fr Luke.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us today to celebrate the 85th Anniversary of our parish.

It was wonderful to see so many people at Mass as we gave thanks to God for 85 years of faith, worship, friendship and service in our community.

Thank you to all who helped organise the celebrations, prepared the church and hall, served refreshments and worked behind the scenes to make the day such a success.

Most of all, thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a joyful occasion. May God continue to bless our parish family as we look forward to the years ahead.

Happy 85th Birthday St Bernard's! 🎉🙏

As part of our 85th Anniversary celebrations, we are delighted to announce that our Parish History Book will be available from Sunday for just £5 per copy.

Lovingly researched and compiled by Fr Luke, the book brings together photographs, memories, stories, and significant moments from throughout the life of our parish. It tells the story of the generations of parishioners, clergy, and families who have helped build and sustain our community of faith over the past 85 years.

Whether you have been part of the parish for many years or have joined us more recently, this book offers a fascinating insight into our shared history and heritage. It is both a valuable historical record and a wonderful keepsake of this special anniversary year.

Copies will be available after all Masses from Sunday onwards. All proceeds will go towards church funds, helping to support the ongoing mission and upkeep of our parish.

At just £5, why not pick up a copy for yourself, or one for a family member or friend and take home a piece of our parish story!

Beginning tomorrow morning! Feel free to call in and say a prayer during the day or night.

Beginning tomorrow morning!
Feel free to call in and say a prayer during the day or night.

* This Friday/Saturday *

This Friday, our church will remain open for 24 continuous hours of Eucharistic Adoration.

From after the 9:30am Mass on Friday until the 12 noon Mass on Saturday, the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed and everyone is welcome to come and pray at any hour, day or night.

There is something deeply beautiful about a church in the middle of the night. Quiet. Still. Peaceful. No crowds. No rush. Just the gentle silence of being with the Lord.

If sleep won’t come, if your heart is heavy, or if you simply need some peace, the doors will be open.

Come for five minutes or an hour. Sit in the silence. Light a candle. Pray. Rest awhile in His presence. ✨

A huge thank you to our wonderful parishioners who made this weekend’s Curry Sale such a fantastic success as part of our St Bernard’s 85th anniversary celebrations!

Together we raised an amazing £370 for parish funds.

The curries were absolutely incredible! Thank you for all the hard work, generosity, and love that went into preparing, cooking, and serving everything.

We are so blessed by our wonderful parish family and especially grateful for the friendship, hospitality, and joyful spirit shared this weekend.

If this weekend was anything to go by, our 85th anniversary celebrations have truly begun in the best possible way!

God bless you all.
