We pray for all the residents, clinicians and staff at Maya Cole Hospice. We give thanks for the care and support provided to those approaching the end of their lives, and pray that the Hospice will continue to be well supported by the local community and a place of comfort and peace.

The Revd John Evans, Self-Supporting Minister and Deanery Transformation Support Officer in Oldham and Ashton Deanery, has spent part of his summer serving as Adult Volunteer Sergeant at an Army Cadet summer camp in Catterick Garrison.

Over the course of the eight-day camp, John provided pastoral support to around 465 young people aged between 12 and 18, helping them navigate the challenges that can come with spending time away from home, often for the first time. He is pictured above enjoying a well-deserved ice cream following a field exercise.

Reflecting on his role, John said:

"Alongside leading worship and offering chaplaincy support, I spend time listening to young people, helping them work through worries, homesickness and the ups and downs of camp life. It's a privilege to be there for them and to watch their confidence grow."

🎉 Members and supporters of Mothers' Union from across the Diocese of Manchester gathered at Manchester Cathedral on Mary Sumner Day to celebrate the organisation’s 150th anniversary. The service was one of many events taking place throughout this anniversary year, both across the diocese and around the world.

The Rt Revd Mark Davies, Bishop of Middleton, commissioned two new trustees during the service, which also featured prayers, worship and the lighting of candles representing Mothers’ Union's local, regional and global connections.

A colourful jigsaw display, created by branches from across the diocese, reflected the way individual gifts, prayers and acts of service combine to support Mothers’ Union's mission in local communities and across the world.

Churches across the Diocese of Manchester will be opening their doors this September as part of the national Heritage Open Days, giving visitors the chance to learn about centuries of faith, architecture and local history. ⛪🙏

The largest festival of built heritage, Heritage Open Days runs from the 11th to 20th September. Many of our beautiful historic buildings will be welcoming visitors for tours, history displays and activities for children. These events provide an opportunity to appreciate some of Greater Manchester and Lancashire’s finest ecclesiastical architecture and learn about the communities which built and sustained these churches over the generations.
