Who dressed you today?

You probably answered, “Well I did, obviously!” Unless you’re a small child when you might say your mum, or dad, or elder sibling did. But I’d go as far to say that we are dressed by our culture, our society, our friends and family, and even our enemies. The choice of what we wear may not be so ‘obvious’ at all!

Morning Prayer has the line: ‘O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness;’ which is the first part of Psalm 96 verse 9 and is giving the idea that we put on beauty, perfection and goodness, like putting on the best clothes, as we come to God to worship… except we know we are really not able to dress ourselves in this way. We need someone else to dress us and who better than God’s own son, Jesus?
He dresses us with himself!
How might we prepare ourselves more for being dressed well for God?
In my mind I think of a little child as they put their arms out, and maybe up, to have a top or coat put on them.
Where might we need to surrender to Jesus to become ‘properly dressed’ for God today?
If you’d like prayer about, or to talk through, this or anything else we’d love to do so - send us a message.

Old Trafford Way of the Cross
This Good Friday 7th April

Starts at 11am in Hullard Park at the circular garden for
Station 1 - Jesus in the Garden.

Gather before then! (10.45am)

The whole way with readings and prayers will take under 2 hours so come prepared with water etc. and do please wear suitable clothes and shoes.

For those who wish there will be a simple light lunch ready at St John’s (Station 15) after which there will be a meditative service: ‘an hour at the Cross’ from 2pm.

Unable to walk all of it?
Maybe you would like to drive to some of the stations to participate - Stations 10 to 14: ‘at the cross’ and ‘the burial’ are where there is usually space to park on Mayer Gardens: the road by the open grass next to the flats.

Please take responsibility for yourself and any children in your care, taking special precautions at road crossings and junctions.
Please show respect to other people and allow them to pass, especially while at the stations.

Hi Church!

Tomorrow in the service we continue with our focus of Closer and to get you in the zone here is the first verse of the Psalm we will be reading:

You, God, are my God,
earnestly I seek you;
I thirst for you,
my whole being longs for you,
in a dry and parched land
where there is no water. (Psalm 63 verse 1 from NIVUK)

Join us and bring what you sense from God on how this Psalm relates to us following Jesus.

[A hint for the talk reading - there’s a desert!]
