We do not have a Walking Church this month, but for those of you who are looking for that time and space to reflect in the beautiful creation all around us, there is a pilgrimage walk taking place in and around Helmsley this weekend.

Join us for the Saint Aelred’s Pilgrim Trail Gathering Walk on Saturday 12 September – a free day of walking, companionship, history and reflection through the beautiful landscape of Upper Ryedale.

This year’s theme is Walking the Everyday Histories of Saint Aelred, exploring the farms, fields, tracks, churches and communities which formed the everyday landscape of Aelred’s world.

We’ll begin at All Saints’, Hawnby at 9.30am, with stops at Murton Grange and Old Byland, a picnic lunch at Tylas Farm, and a walk past Rievaulx Abbey before finishing with a 4pm closing service at All Saints’, Helmsley.

You’re very welcome to walk the whole route or join us at any point along the way. For those walking from the beginning, meet at Helmsley Long Stay Car Park at 9am for transport to Hawnby. Please bring your own picnic.

The day is free and open to all – walkers, pilgrims, history lovers, those exploring faith, and anyone who would simply enjoy good company and a day in this wonderful landscape.

Space in the garden, 4:30 pm, today at 31 Low Moorgate, hosted by Jo White.

Those of you who have been before we look forward to welcoming you back.
If you’ve not visited before let me explain:
It’s half an hour of sitting in the garden – chair provided – with a theme, some poems and reflections, but mostly just “silence“ and peace and quiet.
A time to step back from the business of daily life and reset.
It’s followed by a cuppa and biscuits but don’t feel obliged to stay if you need to get off.
This month theme is “British Mammals“. Please do NOT bring any – we are just using them as a focus to get our minds either thinking or going to sleep – whichever you need.
Do please bring any contribution you would like to share, even if you don’t want to read it out yourself, could be a picture, piece of music etc.

Over in Old Malton tomorrow 😊

Good news!

We have decided we are going ahead with Messy Church tomorrow. We have altered the plans slightly so that rain won’t dampen the fun and are planning some of the activities inside St Mary’s Church. There will still be things outside so come dressed appropriately.
Don’t forget your picnic and to park either at the Gannock or opposite the Royal Oak.
See you in the morning.

You are welcome to join us, or if you have any prayer requests, the Church is open each day for you to leave them on the Prayer tree.

Standing at the crossroads on Westgate and Low Moorgate, St Andrew’s Church has occupied the heart of Rillington for centuries. Long before road signs or house numbers, this was the place around which village life revolved. Here, generations of villagers were baptised, married and mourned. For man...
