Hi,
I was grabbing a quick coffee today in my local Costa — other coffee houses are available! — when I heard a phrase that immediately caught my attention:
*“Your bank balance can tell you what you owe, but it can’t determine what you’re worth.”*
Well, as the famous Belgian detective Hercule Poirot might say, it immediately got my *“little grey cells”* moving! Along with my brain cogs.
Or, to borrow a favourite expression of the late *Dean Shaw, from my Bible School days at the International Bible Training Institute (IBTI), it *“stirred my mind by way of remembrance”.** It was one of those phrases of his that stayed with me — and somehow seems particularly appropriate today.
So, as I sat there supping my coffee, I began thinking about that statement — not simply from a financial point of view, but from a biblical one.
What determines the value of a human life?
Is your worth measured by what you possess? By what you’ve achieved? By what others think of you? By your successes — or perhaps even by your failures?
I decided there and then to put a few thoughts together and produce this short five-minute video.
*Can I encourage you to take just five minutes to watch it?* Perhaps today you need reminding that your value is not determined by your bank balance, your circumstances, your achievements, your failures, or even the opinions of others.
There is One who knows you completely, loves you deeply and has shown, at the Cross, just how seriously He takes both your sin and your salvation.
So please watch, listen and, if it speaks to you, share it with someone who may need this reminder today.
**Your bank balance may tell you what you owe.
But only God can truly tell you what you’re worth.**
God bless you.
*Albert*
