Paul describes the church as a bring‑and‑share community. If only one person brings something, there isn’t enough. But when everyone brings something different, the whole body is strengthened. We don’t gather asking, “What’s in it for me?” but “What is my contribution today?” And no one else will be where you are tomorrow morning — you have a distinct part to play in the life and mission of the church.

We don’t all need to cross oceans to be part of God’s mission. Some people will, and that’s important, but most of us are called to pay attention to the people who live right beside us. There’s real work to be done in our own “Jerusalem and Judea,” in the ordinary places we already spend our time. Even if we never travel far, we’re still part of what God is doing.

Jesus teaches that the blessed are the poor in spirit — those who recognise their need and come to him for grace. The church in Laodicea thought they had everything, yet Jesus saw them as poor and blind. True blessing begins when we see ourselves as he sees us and receive what only he can give.

It was announced at our services today that Rev Emma has been appointed as the Rector of the Grouped Parishes of Ramoan and Clufeightrin (Ballycastle). We will really miss Emma, Paul and family but are so thankful for Emma's ministry in Magheralin over the past 4 years and wish the family God's richest blessings as they join their new church family in Ballycastle in a few months time.

The Rev Emma Gibson, associate minister in Magheralin Parish in the Diocese of Down and Dromore, has been appointed rector of the Grouped Parishes of Ramoan and Culfeightrin (Ballycastle) in Connor Diocese.
Emma is married to Paul, and they have a young child. Daughter of the Rev Canon James Carson, rector of St Stephen’s and St Michael’s, Belfast, and his wife Heather, Emma grew up in Lisburn and, before training for ministry in the Church of Ireland, worked as a primary school teacher.
She trained at CITI and was ordained deacon in 2018 and presbyter in 2019. She served her curacy in Ballymena Parish through the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. Emma said she greatly enjoyed her time ministering in Ballymena, where she had ‘the privilege of serving the parish through the challenges and opportunities of that unique season.’
For the past four years, she has been associate minister in Magheralin. Emma said that as a family, they had loved their time in the parish where they had been made to feel very welcome, had built lasting friendships, and had enjoyed being part of such a supportive parish and community while sharing in a fruitful season of ministry.
“While it will be difficult to leave Magheralin and the people we have come to know and love over the past four years, we are excited about God's call to this new chapter of life and ministry in the parishes of Ramoan and Culfeightrin and the Ballycastle community,” Emma said.
“As a family, we look forward to getting to know people, building new friendships, and sharing in the life and worship of the parish. We pray that, together, we will grow in our love for Jesus and follow the leading of His Holy Spirit in the years ahead.”

☀️ DayBreak this Sunday!☀️

Join us this Sunday at 10.00am in Magheralin Church Hall for DayBreak — a fun-filled morning for the whole family with crafts, songs, stories and a yummy breakfast!

As we continue our theme of Journeys in the Bible, Matthew will be exploring the story of David and Goliath. As David journeyed into the valley to face the giant, he did so with courage and confidence because he knew that God was with him.

This Sunday will also be Matthew's last DayBreak with us before he moves to Christ Church, Lisburn. We'd love to see as many families as possible as we thank him for all he has brought to DayBreak and wish him every blessing in this new chapter of ministry.

🎁🌟 A big Sunday in Magheralin Parish! 🌟🎁

This Sunday marks the start of our Parish Gift Day (31st May & 7th June). As we continue our five-year vision of growing deeper and wider in faith, community and mission, Gift Day is an opportunity to invest in all that God is doing through our parish. Every ministry, event and outreach is made possible through the generosity of our church family. Thank you for your faithful support.

Our Gift Day services are at 10.00am in Dollingstown and 11.30am in Magheralin.

Then join us at 6.30pm in Dollingstown for Kingdom Come. We are delighted to welcome Priscilla Reid back to Magheralin Parish. Many will remember Priscilla and her husband Paul from Holy Week 2024. Priscilla is part of Christian Fellowship Church, Belfast, where Paul served as pastor for 25 years. Worship will be led by a team from High Kirk Presbyterian Church, Ballymena.

We'd love to see you there! 🙏
