❤️ THE CHURCH HOUSE – PROUD TO SUPPORT OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY! ❤️

There’s nothing we love more at The Church House than being able to give something back to our wonderful village. ❤️

We are absolutely delighted to have raised funds towards the defibrillator at The Scout Hut – a vital piece of lifesaving equipment that could one day make all the difference to someone in our community. ❤️

A very special thank you must go to Punch, who generously donated a barrel of b**r to help us raise these important funds. 🍺👏 Your support has helped us make a real difference, and we are incredibly grateful.

And of course, a HUGE thank you to YOU – our fabulous customers! Every pint purchased, every contribution made and every bit of support you give helps us do things like this.

We have always believed that a village pub should be so much more than somewhere to have a drink. It should be the heart of its community, somewhere people come together, look after one another and make a difference.

A defibrillator is something we all hope will never be needed, but knowing it’s there could mean the difference between life and death.

This is what community is all about, and we couldn’t be prouder to play our little part. ❤️

Shoeboxes full of hope!

At St James, we’re delighted to support the Link to Hope Shoebox Appeal, sending Christmas presents to some of the poorest people in Eastern Europe.

A simple shoebox filled with thoughtful gifts can bring a real bit of joy to someone who may otherwise receive very little at Christmas.

Our Shoebox Service is on Sunday 18th October (10:45), when we’ll bring our boxes together and pray for the people who will receive them before sending them on their way.

We’d love you to come and join us - whether you’ve filled a shoebox, helped with the appeal, or simply want to be part of sending a little hope out into the world.

As we approach All Souls, we invite you to join us at St James for a quiet service of remembrance.

There will be an opportunity to light a candle for someone you love and remember, whether they died recently or many years ago.

There is no need to find the right words. Just come, remember and take some time to be still.

🎺 Jazz? Latin? Show tunes? Ballroom? Something a little romantic?

How about all of the above!

The High Peaks Big Band are bringing their 18-piece band to Sutton for a lively evening packed with music from the stage, cinema and ballroom.

There’ll be familiar favourites, jazz and Latin numbers, contemporary arrangements and some gorgeous vocal numbers from Jules Scott and Peter Boxall.

And with a licensed bar on the night, you can grab a drink, sit back and enjoy the music.

Well, here’s your chance to find out!

To celebrate 100 years of the bells at St James, we’re holding a special evening on Friday 16 October - and you won’t just be sitting and listening.

After discovering the fascinating story of our bells and the people who have rung them over the last century, you’ll get the chance to try handbell ringing for yourself and discover how bellringers learn to ring changes.

It’s probably a little more complicated than just ding, ding, ding… but that’s part of the fun! 🔔

And because no good evening of village history should happen without refreshments, there’ll be complimentary cheese and w**e too. 🧀🍷

🎺Fancy a proper night out with live music?

We’re delighted to welcome the High Peaks Big Band to Sutton for an evening of big-band music, dancing-in-your-seat tunes and a little bit of glamour!

With 18 musicians, two vocalists and a huge range of music, this is much more than a night of jazz.

Expect favourites from the stage, cinema and ballroom, classics from the jazz and Latin repertoire, contemporary arrangements and some beautiful romantic numbers too.

🍷 There’ll also be a licensed bar, so you can grab a drink and settle in for the evening.

🌾 Our Traditional Harvest Festival 🌾

Harvest Festival is a lovely old tradition of stopping to give thanks for the food we have, for those who grow it, and for the many good things we can so easily take for granted.

But harvest is also about sharing what we have with others.

As usual our Harvest Festival gifts will be given to Silk Life Foodbank, helping support local people who are struggling.

🍂 Come and join us for our Harvest Supper! 🥧

Harvest is a great excuse to gather together, eat something delicious and enjoy a good evening in one another’s company.

We’re serving up a proper pie and pea supper, followed by dessert, with tea and coffee - and then we’ll put your brains to the test with a just-for-fun quiz!

There’ll also be a raffle, because apparently we can’t have a village gathering without one.

Come for the food, stay for the quiz, and enjoy a relaxed evening together. (Bring your own drinks)
