Many of you will know about the fire up in Macclesfield forest but did you know that The Salvation Army is there supporting the emergency services with refreshments and a listening ear with our specialist emergency vehicle? One of our soldiers has been pictured in this post helping to ensure that our amazing emergency services have food and drink and a friendly smile. They say there is nothing like an army cup of tea and we are proud to be able to help in any way we can.

STAY AWAY - Forest

The road closures around Macclesfield Forest will remain in place for the forceable future. Do not ignore the closures and stay away from the forest whilst operations continue.

The teamwork that is ongoing is first-class and I'm incredibly proud that we are supporting our collegues when needed.

However it's hugely disappointing that whilst this brilliant work is ongoing, groups of people clearly knowing what was happening, tried to set up camp and start BBQs and fires 🔥 in the very same forest! They were stopped by the UU staff on site and told to leave.

Their details have been taken by the UU team, and we (The RCT) will make contact with those involved.

Now is not the time to be setting fires and taking BBQs into the countryside. As we know, no one walks out a hot bbq from their hike!

CAMEO is on today the windows and doors are all open and the hall is nice and cool. Do take care and keep your fluids up. If you are up to joining us then see you later if it is to hot then keep yourself inside in the shade
