The parish communities of St Joseph’s and St Peter’s were filled with joy and gratitude on Saturday 9th May when Ed Shakespeare was awarded the Silver Medal of the Guild of St Stephen, in recognition of ten years of faithful service at the altar by Father Peter Clarke, Parish Priest.
The award marks a significant milestone, acknowledging a decade of dedication, reverence, and commitment to the liturgical life of both parishes.
Alongside this recognition, the parish also celebrates the next stage of Ed Shakespeare’s journey. Currently a first-year student studying for a BEng in Marine Engineering at Fleetwood Nautical College, Ed departed the following day to begin the first sea phase of training: a four-month placement aboard a cargo vessel, applying the skills developed during the first year of study.
As this new chapter begins, the parish community offers heartfelt prayers for safety, perseverance, and success. United in pride and encouragement, St Joseph’s and St Peter’s commend Ed to God’s care, confident that the qualities shown through years of faithful service will continue to guide him and sustain him on this exciting journey.
