“…who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”
Psalm 103:5 (NIV)

When King David of Israel wrote the song quoted here in about the 9th century BC, was he asking God to pass him a 21st century AD energy drink?!

Most Bible translations use words like "My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!" How's that?

The Bible says God describes Himself "like an eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, that spreads its wings to catch them and carries them aloft."

If we put our trust in God and His Son Jesus Christ, we can turn to Him to support us in life's difficulties.

Jesus had 12 close friends who spent over 3 years going everywhere with Him, helping Him.

When they asked Him, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”, His long reply ended by teaching them how to resolve any problems among them, finishing with the words in the picture.

Like them, the church meeting in Bethany Chapel is a mixed bunch of people, but by having Jesus Christ as our focal point, we are able to be a warm and friendly bunch!

4pm any Sunday is a good time to visit us and find out how good that claim is! You’ll be most welcome.

May God bless you in 2022.

"For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding." Proverbs 2:6 (NIV)

These words were written by Solomon, king of Israel. He was known as the wisest man in his generation and his wisdom was a gift.

"The wisdom of Solomon" is a phrase we still use today, nearly 3,000 years later.

Solomon understood the source of true wisdom was God himself. Solomon also wrote "Fear of the LORD is the foundation of wisdom." This doesn't mean that we should be 'scared' of God, but that we should properly recognise and respect God for who He is.

"Wisdom" can also be understood to be skill, shrewdness and prudence. These qualities are also observed in the person of Jesus (a distant relative of Solomon) in His wonderful teachings and ministry.

Perhaps we all need wisdom in our lives.

“Even to your old age and grey hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you.
I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”
Isaiah 46:4 (NIV)

A timely message from Isaiah, written at a time of ‘regime change’ at the fall of the Babylonian Empire. Although God is moving through history and is control of it (see v10!), He gives ’whole of life’ care to His believing people – and why not?

He says, “I have made you and I will carry you” – are you willing to be carried by your Creator, the One who is also bringing righteousness and granting salvation through faith in the Lord Jesus, as promised through Isaiah?

I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name. Revelation 3:8 (NIV)
