Fellowship Baptist Church

Fellowship Baptist Church We're not perfect people, just following a Perfect Saviour - Jesus Christ. Dieticians tell us that we need our five a day (fruit and veg) to be healthy.

Fellowship Baptist Church was founded in 1982 by our current pastor, Stan Boelman and his wife Paula. Originally named Bethel Baptist Church, the name was changed, after much discussion, to Fellowship Baptist Church. Fellowship is both a noun and a verb; a fellowship is a group of people who share things in common, when people fellowship together they share these things in a positive and helpful w

ay. As a Christian fellowship, we'd like to think we're the sixth … we offer something for the soul. AND GOOD NEWS — FBC is now meeting at Ambleside Community Centre, 19A Ambleside Close, Luton, LU3 2SF. Our meeting starts at 11am. It’s a smaller building than our previous venue but it’s a lovely place to worship.

Just north of Luton is the town of Ampthill. And on a hill outside of Ampthill are the ruins of a Jacobean mansion called Houghton House. Houghton House was built in the 17th century with one of the designers being Inigo Jones. Apparently the house is also connected to Mary the Countess of Pembroke.

The other link is with John Bunyan and his book Pilgrim’s Progress. In the story, Christian stays overnight in the Beautiful Palace, or House Beautiful. Houghton House is believed to be House Beautiful.

On Sunday, Stan is going to take us there. Some wonderful things awaited Christian in this place. They are available to us.

Life, it’s uphill from here

One of the more famous statements of Jesus is in John 10:10 …

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
‭‭John‬ ‭10‬:‭10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Here’s another take on that text …

“The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭10‬:‭10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Lovely sentiment but the problem is when experience contradicts theory. In Pilgrim’s Progress, Christian might be finding a conflict as well. He’s come through the wicket gate, he’s been to the cross, but now he’s confronted with the Hill of Difficulty.

We’ve all faced one. Some of us might call it a mountain. It saps our strength, it robs us of our peace, and it raises questions about a relationship with Jesus.

On Sunday Stan is tackling the tricky problem of suffering. It’s tricky all right. People have been wrestling with this for centuries. Not sure if Stan can do justice but the goal is to provide hope!

God bless.

Five frogs, the Beatles, a sheepdog, and a journey with God 😃

On Sunday, Stan will be taking us further into the story of Pilgrim’s Progress. A really crucial happens to Pilgrim when he comes to the wicket gate. The end of the story? No, it’s just getting started.

To illustrate, Stan will be talking about five frogs, sheep dogs, and the odd reference to a song by the Beatles. 😳

You should tune in just to see if all these characters tell us anything!

God bless!
