What a joyful and hope-filled Easter at St Peter & St John’s.

From the lighting of the Paschal Candle, to gathering together in worship, to the Easter garden reminding us of the empty tomb — the day has been full of light, hope, and celebration.

It was wonderful to welcome so many people for our Easter crafts yesterday and Easter egg hunt today. Thank you to everyone who came along, took part, and helped make the day such good fun for all ages. The church was filled with smiles, creativity, and community.

If you haven’t yet visited, our Easter garden is still here — a quiet reminder of the resurrection story and the hope at the heart of Easter. You’re very welcome to come in, spend a moment in reflection, and see it for yourself.

Alleluia — Christ is risen.
Hope is alive.
And there is always a place for everyone here.

Thank you for celebrating Easter with us.

At dawn on Easter morning, the stone was rolled away.

Before the crowds, before the celebrations, before the full joy of the day — there was a quiet discovery. The tomb was empty. Darkness was giving way to light. What seemed finished was not the end.

Easter begins in stillness, with the first light of hope breaking through the night. The resurrection is not only a moment of joy, but a promise — that love is stronger than death, and that new life is possible for everyone.

As the sun rises, so does hope.
As the light grows, so does joy.
Christ is risen.

Alleluia.

Holy Saturday is a quiet day of waiting.

Between the sorrow of Good Friday and the joy of Easter morning, the Church pauses in stillness and hope. We wait, we watch, and we prepare for the promise of new life.

Today, the church will be open from 2pm-4pm for quiet Easter crafts — a gentle space for reflection, creativity, and preparation as we approach Easter Day. All are welcome to drop in, spend some time, and share in this calm moment of Holy Week together.

Even in the waiting, hope is growing.

It is finished.

It is finished.

As this hour approaches, we draw near to the cross.

From midday, darkness covered the land. The noise of the world fades, and we stand in the stillness of Good Friday — watching, praying, and remembering the depth of love poured out for all.

This is the moment when we pause.
The moment when we reflect.
The moment when the story seems at its heaviest.

We gather our thoughts, we quiet our hearts, and we prepare to remember the final moments of Christ’s earthly life.

We stand at the foot of the cross.
And we wait.

At midday on Good Friday, we reflect on the Stations of the Cross.

The Stations of the Cross follow the final journey of Jesus — from being condemned, to carrying the cross, to his death, and finally being laid in the tomb. Each moment invites us to pause and consider love shown in suffering, compassion in the face of pain, and sacrifice given for the world.

For many, this is a time to quietly walk this journey in prayer and reflection. As we watch, we are invited into stillness — to remember the depth of this day and the love at its heart.

Today we walk with Christ.
Today we watch.
Today we remember.

Today is Good Friday — the day we remember love poured out for the world.

We stand at the cross and reflect on the depth of Christ’s compassion: forgiveness offered in suffering, mercy shown in pain, and hope held even in the darkest moment. Good Friday is not loud or triumphant. It is quiet, solemn, and deeply meaningful.

It is a day to pause.
A day to pray.
A day to remember that God meets us in suffering as well as in joy.

In a world that often rushes past hardship, Good Friday invites us to stay present — to acknowledge grief, to hold one another in love, and to trust that even in darkness, God is at work.

We wait at the cross knowing this is not the end of the story.
Beyond today lies hope.
Beyond sorrow, resurrection.

“But he was pierced for our transgressions… and by his wounds we are healed.” — Isaiah 53:5

It is the deep of night.

In the darkness of Good Friday, we remember the cry from the cross:
“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

These words speak into every moment of loneliness, every season of silence, every time when God feels distant. They remind us that even in abandonment, Christ is present — entering fully into the depth of human sorrow and carrying it with love.

At this quiet hour, we keep watch.
We sit in stillness.
We hold space for the weight of this day.

For those who feel alone, anxious, grieving, or uncertain — this cry speaks for you. And even here, in the darkness, God is near.

We watch and we wait.
