This week we are praying for those who live on Clapham Road. This is one of the longest roads in our parish continuing the other side of the roundabout to form what the map calls Clapham Road South.

Thank you Lord that you know the name of each person who lives in this road, thank you that you made them all different and you love them as they are. We pray that you will touch each of these lives at the point of their deepest need, that they may grow in their knowledge of you and your saving power. Amen.

This morning in our staff prayers we read this beautiful poem by Gerard Kelly , taken from his book ‘Spoken Worship’.

Behold, I Stand

When the night is deep
with the sense of Christmas
and expectancy hangs heavy
on every breath,
behold, I stand at the door and knock.

When the floor is knee-deep
in discarded wrapping paper
and the new books are open at page one
and the new toys are already broken,
behold, I stand at the door and knock.

When the family is squashed
elbow to elbow
around the table,
and the furious rush for food is over
and the only word that can describe the feeling
is full,
behold, I stand at the door and knock.

When Christmas is over
and the television is silent
for the first time in two days
and who sent which card to whom
is forgotten until next year,
behold, I stand at the door.

And when the nation has finished celebrating
Christmas without Christ,
a birthday without a birth,

Vaccinations available!

Supported by our Community Help Team, the NHS Wellness on Wheels bus will be in Lowestoft town centre on 3 December offering a range of vaccinations:

- Covid (eligible adult and children 5 years and above)
- Flu for school age children
- MMR
- RSV for pregnant women 28 weeks plus
- Teenage vaccines

Immunisation record reviews and missed vaccines guidance will also be available on the bus.

The venues and times for the Warm Welcome venues have been confirmed.

Warm Welcome offers free refreshments, safe space and a chance to meet others from the community. These sessions often also provide support and advice on a variety of topics to help people through the winter months.

Something for all the family:

Christmas scavenger hunt
A variety of crafts some of which will be more suitable for adults.
We will have a live nativity scene - did you always want to be a King, shepherd or even Mary in the school play but were never chosen? Now is your chance, we have child and adult size costumes.
Bouncy castles are always popular with the children.

There is no entry charge but you will need to bring some cash if you would like to buy cakes or treat the children to a visit to meet Santa in his grotto.
