High Beach Church

High Beach Church The Parish Church for High Beach, Sewardstone and Sewardstonebury, located in the heart of Epping Forest and part of the Waltham Holy Cross Team Ministry

People visit this very special place for a variety of reasons: for a family occasion, to pray or sit for a quiet moment, to light a candle, to worship God at a service or to enjoy having a look around. Whatever the reason for your visit, may we assure you of a welcome here. The Christian faith which inspired the builders of this church in the 1870’s is still at the heart of our life and work here

today. Two thousand years a go Jesus turned the world upside down, bringing love out of hate, healing out of pain and suffering, even life out of death. His teaching is still relevant in the twenty first century and shows us the way of God’s Kingdom which is based on love. We can all share in God’s love for his world today. If you would like to know more about how this is possible please do not hesitate to contact one of our church members. We hope you will be able to join us again at one of the services held in this church every Sunday morning or mid-week when the church is open for prayer and quiet reflection. Sunday Services
9am Holy Communion – Traditional Worship – using the Book of
Common Prayer and Hymns Ancient and Modern;
10.30am Family Service – an informal service with Holy Communion on

🔥 Pentecost Sunday 🔥

This Sunday we celebrate Pentecost — the day Jesus fulfilled His promise to send the Holy Spirit, to be our Helper, Comforter, and Guide.

Before He returned to the Father on Ascension day, Jesus told His disciples:

“And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper to be with you forever.” — John 14:16

At Pentecost, that promise became reality. The Holy Spirit came with power, filling ordinary people with courage, faith, wisdom, and boldness to share the love of Christ with the world.

The same Spirit is still at work today — strengthening, leading, comforting, and reminding us that we are never alone.

🕊️ Join us this Sunday as we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit and the faithfulness of Jesus to keep His promises.

Today we celebrate is Ascension Day — a day marking the time Jesus returned to heaven, 40 days after Easter.

For Christians, it’s an important reminder that the story of Jesus didn’t end with the resurrection. Before leaving His disciples, He encouraged them to keep sharing hope, love, and compassion with the world — values that still inspire millions of people today.

Ascension Day is ultimately about hope: that we are not alone, that love is stronger than fear, and that faith can move us to care for one another and our communities.

Whether you celebrate it or are simply curious about it, we wish you a peaceful and hope-filled day.

🌅 Halelujah: He Is Risen! 🌅

Today, On Easter Sunday, we celebrate the heart of our faith—the resurrection of Jesus Christ!

The stone was rolled away.
The tomb is empty.
Death has been defeated.

What seemed like the end on Good Friday became the greatest victory on Easter Sunday. Jesus rose from the grave, proving that sin and death do not have the final word.

Because He lives:
✨ We have hope beyond the grave
✨ We have new life and new beginnings
✨ We have victory through Him

Easter is a reminder that no matter how dark things may seem, God brings life, restoration, and joy.

“He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.” (Matthew 28:6)

Let us rejoice and celebrate the risen King today!

All are welcome to join us and celebrate at 5:30am, 9am and 10:30am

Easter Saturday.....

Today is a quieter day in the Easter story. A day many people skip over as it can seem as if nothing is happening. After all after the sorrow of Good Friday, everything seemed still. Jesus had been laid in the tomb, and His followers were left in grief, confusion, and waiting. The promises He had spoken didn’t yet make sense, and hope felt hidden.

But this day has much to tell us....
Easter Saturday reminds us that God is still at work—even in the silence.

It’s a day that speaks to all of us who find ourselves in the “in-between”:
✨ Between prayer and answer
✨ Between promise and fulfillment
✨ Between pain and restoration

When it feels like nothing is happening, God is still moving behind the scenes.

If today feels heavy or uncertain, take heart—this is not the end of the story.

Sunday is coming. 🌅

Why do we call this day good?

At first glance, Good Friday can seem like a day of sorrow.
It marks the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, a moment of suffering, sacrifice, and deep grief.
So why do we call it good?

It is called good because of what it means for us.

On this day, we remember the greatest act of love the world has ever known. Jesus willingly gave His life on the cross, taking on the weight of our sins so that we could be forgiven, restored, and brought back into relationship with God.

What looked like a tragic ending was actually the beginning of hope.

Through His sacrifice, we see:
✨ Love that knows no limits
✨ Grace that we don’t deserve
✨ Mercy that never runs out

Good Friday reminds us that even in the darkest moment, God was working for our salvation. And because of that, we call it good.

As we reflect today, may our hearts be filled with gratitude, humility, and awe for what Jesus has done for us.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son…” (John 3:16)

You are welcome to Join us at church today from between 12 and 3 as we remember, reflect, and give thanks.

Today we celebrate Palm Sunday which was the day Jesus entered Jerusalem for the final time. He was welcomed ecstatically by crowds waving palm branches and shouting “Hosanna!”

It’s a moment of joy and praise, but also the beginning of a journey that leads to the cross. Palm Sunday reminds us how quickly things can change, and invites us to stay faithful not just in the joyful moments, but in the difficult ones too.

As we begin Holy Week, may we walk closely with Jesus, reflecting on His love, sacrifice, and the hope we find in Him.

“Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”

Wishing you all a peaceful and meaningful Palm Sunday.
