-Contact 07793 227297 or Available on Sunday after Mass in Sacristy.

Here is very interesting piece of history from the booklet:
Due to the dissolution of the monasteries, the Abbey of SS Peter and Paul was yielded to the civil authorities by the last Abbott, James O’Donnelly, on November the 1st 1541. In the following years the church at Toby Hole fell into disrepair and the Bodley Map of 1609 below shows a roofless church. (Black arrow pointing on map below)

An insightful snippet of information and research from the booklet: A History of St. John’s Chapel Tartaraghan:

First Site of worship – Toby Hole
The Grange of Tartaraghan was part of the Abbey of Saints Peter and Paul in Armagh (1126-1562). There was a church on the grange site. This ancient site is known today as ‘Toby-Hole'.
Attached in the photos is a note from Dept of Communities NI Sites and Monuments Archaeological Survey relating to ‘Toby Hole’.

Anyone wishing to purchase a booklet can call 07793 227297.

Annaghmore Regeneration are hosting a Coffee morning in the Old Schoolhouse Tartaraghan on Sunday 1st February after 10am Mass.

Funding was received for a project to research the history of St John’s Tartaraghan. This was opportune as we celebrate its 200th anniversary (1826-2026) this year.

Come along and see the exhibition tracing the history of the Chapel and support costs associated with publication of the booklet. Booklet available at £5.

Look forward to seeing you then.
