On Wednesday evening this week, as part of Hathern's Big Week, we are holding our Praise in the Park with Hathern Baptist Church at 7:30pm, followed by refreshments and fellowship. As the name suggests, it's in Hathern Park, in the big marquee.

It's the usual lively evening of worship through song and hymns, old and new. Our friend Revd Emily Sharman is going to be talking and leading our prayers.

Our June Praise evening, on Wednesday 24th June, reverts to Hathern Church as usual.

On Wednesday evening this week (22nd April) it's our Easter Praise Evening at 7:30pm. Lots of lively Easter songs to sing, some thoughtful ones, amongst which:

Jesus is alive
He has risen
I serve a risen Saviour
Thine be the glory
Sometimes I wonder
Easter Jubilation

There's a light bite and fellowship afterwards. Why not give it a go?? We'd love to see you there.

THIS WEEK - SONGS OF PRAISE

On Wednesday evening in Hathern Church it's our monthly Praise Evening, 7:15pm for a 7:30pm start.

This week Peter Yorkstone is leading, his talk is on Creation and Creativity, some good songs to sing:

Lord of all hopefulness
To be in Your presence
How deep the Father's love for us
From Heaven You came
In Christ alone
and a whole lot more

There are light refreshments afterwards, and a chance to chat with your fellow songsters. Do join us for an evening of worship through song.

On Wednesday In the evening we have our February Praise Evening (7:15pm for a 7:30pm start), when we'll be singing lots of songs of praise.

After the singing, there'll be light refreshments so that you can meet your fellow songsters over a glass.

Sue Hack will be talking about Hope and the songs will reflect that. Some of those we shall be singing are:
Lord of all hopefulness
Cornerstone
Jesus Christ, my living hope
King of kings, and
Revival
Do join us for a good sing!

On Wednesday, our January Praise Evening starts at 7:30pm and, this month, is led by Revd John Bird. His theme is "Rescue me", a theme which he knows all about from his time with the fire service.

We'll be singing some older hymns and some newer songs, some of which are:

To God be the glory
My Jesus, my Saviour
I watch the sunrise
And can it be
The Spirit lives to set us free
10,000 reasons

and we will be learning a new song appropriately called "Rescuer" aka "Good news", written in 2017 by the Rend Collective

Come along for a good sing and lovely refreshments afterwards.

Our 21st Christmas Tree Festival, takes place this coming weekend: 10-8 on Friday and Saturday, and 10-5:30 on Sunday.

The Festival finishes on Sunday with Songs of Christmas Praise at 7:30pm - singing carols old and new, sherry and mince pies as well. Amongst the well-loved traditional carols, we have what are now traditional modern carols and some that aren't yet traditional. How about:
This Christmas Time
In the bleak mid-winter
Come and join the celebration
God Christian men, rejoice (women invited too!)
O, come and join the dance, and
Hark the herald angels sing
What's not to like? There's sherry and mince pies, too, all among the trees.

We'd love you to celebrate Christmas with us!

NOVEMBER PRAISE EVENING

On Wednesday evening this week we have our monthly Praise Evening, and this month we're thinking about Advent and waiting for Christmas, so will be doing songs and hymns to reflect waiting and the coming of the Light of the World.

Amongst the songs, we'll be singing:

Waiting for Christmas
Christ be our light
O come, O come, Immanuel
Light of the world
Men of faith (aka Shout to the North)
We are marching in the light of God
and more

Do join us at 7:30pm for some lively singing and great fellowship and food afterwards.

This coming Wednesday evening (22nd October) sees our October Praise Evening. This month it's a celebration of 20 years of the Praise Group's existence.

We started in 2005 with a small band, our debut was at Diseworth Church (pictured) and, for the first few years, we regularly toured the Benefice and Shepshed, bringing old and new worship songs and hymns to a new audience. We settled at Hathern in about 2008.

So tonight is a celebration of those twenty years, we'll be singing some of the early stuff we did and there'll be pictures of the (ever changing) group during that time.

Among the oldies
Purify my heart
Come on and celebrate
Majesty
Guide me, O thou great Redeemer
and more

We would love you to join us! 7:15pm for a 7:30pm start, refreshments after, what's not to like?

On Wednesday evening, we have our monthly Praise Evening, we're still in Creationtide so we're still thinking about this year's theme "Peace with Creation" and our songs are all about either creation or peace. Here are some of them:

Beauty for brokenness
Make me a channel of your peace
Creation sings the Father's song
Peace is flowing like a river, and
Over all the earth

We start at 7:30pm as usual, do join us for a lively sing and some good refreshments after!

On Wednesday evening (27th) it's our monthly Praise Evening or Songs of Praise to worship the Lord through song. Our own Sue Hack will be talking and we'll be singing some oldies and some new ones too, including:

Rock of Ages
My lighthouse
I watch the sunrise
Vagabonds, and
There shall be showers of blessing

We're also doing "Turn your eyes" which we learned at the recent Praise in the Park and

There's a couple of new (to us) songs, one to a very well-known and surprising tune, the other Stuart Townend's "You are my anchor" from 2001

Do join us for a good sing, excellent fellowship and some good supper!
