LET US REST ASSURED, FOR THE LORD WILL FIGHT ON OUR BEHALF!

Goliath walked out toward David with his shield bearer ahead of him, sneering in contempt at this ruddy-faced boy. “Am I a dog,” he roared at David, “that you come at me with a stick?” And he cursed David by the names of his gods. “Come over here,” Goliath yelled, “and I’ll give your flesh to the birds and wild animals!”
1 Samuel 17: 41-44

Child of God, I can see in my mind’s eye Goliath charging on you. For what reason, you may wonder? It’s true, you have done him no wrong—indeed, nothing to warrant the assault. His attack is unprovoked, I agree, totally baseless!
You are living your life in peace. You are working hard to cater for yourself and your family, standing up at cockcrow and working all day, indeed shedding sweat to earn an honest wage. You have no ill will towards anyone. Certainly, you are not thinking evil towards anyone. You thought others would reciprocate your goodwill towards them and leave you in peace, but no! Well, unfortunately, the spirit of envy, jealousy, backbiting, does not understand diplomatic language. So even though you have nothing against them, they have declared war against you!
So, Goliath the enemy is launching an assault not against you only, but also your family, your business, yes everything dear to you. Stay calm and collected my dear Christ friend. No panic; no fears. Hear the Lord in whom you have placed your trust declare assuredly: “Do not be afraid of their faces, for I am with you to deliver you,” (Jeremiah 1:8)
For sure, the Lord will fight your fight for you, Just as He did in the case of David—so rest assured and maintain your calm, precious child of God!

THE LORD OUR STRONG REFUGE

The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.
Proverbs 18:10

Imagine my dear Christian friend you are a fierce opponent of the government of a little country somewhere on the globe, indeed a weak and impoverished country. In the face of the wanton corruption going on in your country, you have been publishing article upon article criticizing the government. The president of that country, intent on showing you where power lies, dispatches some of his security forces to arrest you. Just as they are under way, someone calls you on your mobile phone to warn you about the impending arrest. Sensing danger, you make it through the back door of your home and begin running as fast as you can towards to the US consulate in the capital.
Somehow the agents of the president get the news of your flight and give you chase. Just as they are about to grasp you, you manage at the very last minute to enter the premises of the US Embassy. On producing your ID card and telling your story, you are offered sanctuary. Safe within the walls of the compound of the embassy of the most powerful country on earth, you look through the glass window of the consulate building and spot your enemies on the street, retreating, anger visibly written all over their faces. In the safety of your refuge, you, who minutes earlier feared for your life, have the audacity to make mocking gestures towards them!
If we can trust in earthly refuge, let us not fear the principalities and powers of darkness up against us my dear Christian friend, for we have a surer refuge under the wings of the Most High God.

ASSURED OF DIVINE DELIVERANCE

Call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.
Psalm 50:15 :

Dear child of God, I can assure you that in response to your persistent calls on Heaven for help, the Lord of Heaven and earth indeed will arise and rebuke the problems, the challenges, the afflictions, etc., at war with you.
Get up, pick up a megaphone if you can lay hold of one, and declare at the top of your voice: “The Lord will arise on my behalf!” Yes indeed, He will!
Child of God, even if you have left all to serve the Lord; indeed, if you serve Him with all your heart, then rest assured that the Lord of Creation will arise on your behalf and rebuke the troubles confronting you, the problems threatening to choke you.
The world may count you the least amongst your fellow human beings – not counted among the wealthy, the influential, the prominent; neither among the educated nor the political elite.
You may, like myself, have been born into abject poverty; indeed, as in my case, a makeshift bathroom in one of the most impoverished areas on the globe might have served as the delivery suite where your eyes first saw the light of day! And indeed, you may find yourself on the lowest rung on the social ladder; yet the Lord of the whole universe, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, He who is not impressed by the outside, He who looks on the inside and not the outside, will rise up to your calls for help!
So pick up courage, child of God, and wait on the rescuing Hands of our Loving Lord.
