Pathfinder Church Northstowe

Pathfinder Church Northstowe A welcoming community for all ages, however you are feeling. Chat and chew over Bible passages—or simply listen and reflect.

Dance in worship, create in reflection, or find quiet to pause, uncovering parts of your faith journey you didn’t know you needed. Those of us gathering as part of this new community in Northstowe come from all Christian traditions as well as those new to Christianity: together we are pilgrims on a journey, asking questions and exploring the connections we find between everyday life and our spirit

uality and faith. At the heart of all this is a recognition that we are seeking to follow The Pathfinder, Jesus Christ. What unites us is much stronger than our denominational backgrounds: it is a rooted, growing, and transforming faith based on an encounter with the ancient God who still changes lives today. Our vision is to be people who are praying, exploring and sharing

Thank you to everyone who has worked together to reach this point whether part of the church or the many community groups that have already helped shape this collaborative vision. The final decision is in 23rd June .. then the real hard work begins as we move into detailed design, planning, and fundraising!

Church and Muslim networks collaborate on a new faith and community hub.

Some niche news… but something that could make a big difference for generations of Northstowe residents. 🎉

A formal Church of England consultation has opened on proposals to create a new Parish and Benefice of Northstowe.

Northstowe Church Network is an ecumenical partnership, bringing together the Church of England, United Reformed Church, Baptist Union, and wider ecumenical relationships. These proposals affect the Church of England part of our life and governance, without changing the wider Northstowe Church Network partnership.

The proposal would bring the Church of England parish boundary into line with the civic boundary of Northstowe. This matters because Northstowe is a new town with its own growing identity, and a Church of England parish gives a clear framework for local pastoral responsibility.

It is also an important step towards the future Chapel by the Lake.

Northstowe Church Network has recently been named as the recommended bidder for the first parcel of faith land in Northstowe. If that process is completed successfully, we hope to develop The Chapel by the Lake as an ecumenical chapel and Parish Centre of Worship within the wider Lakeside Centre.

In practical terms, this would mean that, once The Chapel by the Lake is built and licensed, Northstowe residents, whether or not they are churchgoers, would be able to ask for Church of England services in their own town for weddings or blessings, baptisms, and funerals.

At the moment, Revd Beth can and does conduct these services for Northstowe residents, but we usually need to borrow a neighbouring parish church. Baptisms can also already take place here in Northstowe, including at The Pathfinder School.

In line with Church of England tradition, formal notice of such things must be affixed to the door of the Parish Church. We don't yet have a building.. so we're very grateful to The Pathfinder School for hosting the local copy of the notice!

Feasting, fasting, toy-mice on the altar, prayer jars, books, breakfast tables, and the big question:
What opens up when people follow Jesus?
This morning we gathered around croissants, waffles, fruit and breakfast bakes, and explored the story of Levi’s feast. We wondered about welcome, real prayer, justice, and the kind of faith that makes room for others.
Thank you to everyone who came, served, prayed, played, made music, decorated jars, joined in the story, and helped us notice God at work among us.
Praying, exploring, and sharing together. 🥐🐭🕯️🙏

After breakfast, conversation, prayers, and time to reflect, this song gave us a chance to pause and bring our hopes, worries, and needs to God.
A peaceful, honest moment in the middle of a very full morning. 🎶

🌟 This Sunday at Pathfinder Church 🌟

Join us from 9.20am for coffee.

This week we're exploring the story of the friends who lowered a man through the roof to Jesus. We'll be thinking about belonging, removing barriers, and how we can help one another get closer to God.

🧱 Build a house with a removable roof 🛏️ Work together to carry the "paralysed man" 🕯️ Spend time in the Chapel Space with a quieter reflection 🍞 We'll also be sharing Communion together

🎵 Songs: • Way Maker • O Love That Wilt Not Let Me Go • By Faith

As always, there'll be plenty of coffee, conversation, and refreshments after the service, at around 11am.

Everyone is welcome. 😊

🪁🌬️ What a joyful Pentecost morning together at Pathfinder Church Northstowe 🌬️🪁

We shared increasingly complicated clapping games, bubbles, kite flying made possible by the thermals rising off the hot playground, ice lollies in the sunshine, and prayer ribbons dancing.

As we swapped ribbons and carried one another’s prayers home, we were reminded that Pentecost is all about connection: people drawn together across difference by the Holy Spirit at work among us.

Thank you to everyone who came, played, prayed, chatted, ran, reflected, helped, and joined in ❤️

🪁🌬️ Pentecost at Pathfinder Church Northstowe 🌬️🪁

This Sunday we’ll be exploring the Pentecost story together through creativity, conversation, kites, bubbles, prayer, and time outdoors.

We’ll begin indoors with coffee, short videos, and multisensory activities for all ages — before heading out into the field for kite flying, bubble blowing, and Prayers on the Wind.

✨ Bring a kite if you have one
☀️ Bring suncream and dress for the weather
🫧 We’ll have spare kites and bubbles too

📍 The Pathfinder Primary School Hall
☕ Coffee from 9.20am
🌈 Everyone welcome — whether you’re exploring faith, visiting for the first time, or already part of the Pathfinder community.

No experience of church needed. Just come as you are. Let us know you are coming here https://northstowe.churchsuite.com/events/a9zusyfj
But there's always space for a few more!

One of yesterday’s AGM prayer stations was shaped around the miraculous catch of fish in Luke 5.

Jesus tells tired fishermen to put down their nets one more time… and suddenly the boats are overflowing.

But as we reflected together, we realised that abundance is not always loud, dramatic, or easy to measure.

So alongside the magnetic fishing game, people were invited to write their own “wow, God!” moments onto paper fish and add them into the nets.

Some were big community moments. Some were deeply personal. Some were tiny things that opened unexpected doors.

Church Club.
Praying friends.
Community connections.
Being welcomed.
Someone noticing a need.
A conversation.
A beginning.

It became a beautiful reminder that God’s abundance is often found in ordinary faithfulness, shared partnership, and people quietly offering what they can.

“Partners in the other boat” suddenly felt like a very important phrase for Northstowe. 🎣
