Pathfinder Church Northstowe

Pathfinder Church Northstowe A welcoming community for all ages, however you are feeling. Chat and chew over Bible passages—or simply listen and reflect.

Dance in worship, create in reflection, or find quiet to pause, uncovering parts of your faith journey you didn’t know you needed. Those of us gathering as part of this new community in Northstowe come from all Christian traditions as well as those new to Christianity: together we are pilgrims on a journey, asking questions and exploring the connections we find between everyday life and our spirit

uality and faith. At the heart of all this is a recognition that we are seeking to follow The Pathfinder, Jesus Christ. What unites us is much stronger than our denominational backgrounds: it is a rooted, growing, and transforming faith based on an encounter with the ancient God who still changes lives today. Our vision is to be people who are praying, exploring and sharing

What helps you when you feel worried or afraid? 💛

Preparations are well underway for Pathfinder Church tomorrow — including some very enthusiastic young bakers making treats to share!

As we begin a new autumn season together, we’ll be exploring a big, busy chapter of Luke: worries and riches, bigger barns and tiny sparrows, what we hold onto, what we share, and Jesus’ promise that “the kingdom of God is near.”

There’ll be our first Autumn Lantern, things to make and explore, space to wonder and pray, plenty for all ages — and Holy Communion as we gather around the table together.

☕ Come as you are, grab a drink and settle in.
📍 Pathfinder School, Northstowe
🕙 Sunday, 10.00–11.30am — note our new time!

No need to know the answers. Just come and see what you notice.

This Sunday at Pathfinder we’re gathering for Communion — and we’re picking up a thread that has followed us all summer and all the way to Greenbelt.

Through our August Summer Breakfasts we kept hearing stories about people being sent out without everything they needed, learning to receive as well as give, and discovering that God was already at work beyond the places they expected.

Then Greenbelt Communion gave us Luke 10 again — and sent thousands of us home carrying literal pieces of a jigsaw.

So this Sunday we’ll gather around the table, share bread and w**e, and return to that simple refrain:
The kingdom of God is near.

Whether you came to every Summer Breakfast, just one, or none at all, you’re very welcome. You don’t need to have followed the whole story to have a place in it.

📍 Pathfinder Church, Pathfinder Primary School
🕙 Sunday, 10am

And if you want the story behind the jigsaw first, Beth’s final Greenbelt reflection is here:

What if God is already handing out the pieces?

Pieces of Greenbelt’s Communion jigsaw, tangled cross-stitch threads, a summer wandering through Luke 9 and 10 — and a growing sense that none of us was ever meant to carry the whole picture alone.…

🌿⛺ Pathfinder Church is not here this Sunday.

We’ve run away to a field near Kettering.

Specifically: Greenbelt — where art, activism, faith, doubt, politics, poetry, music, comedy and several thousand slightly damp humans collide for a long weekend.

So there’s no gathered Pathfinder Church in Northstowe this Sunday.

But if you’re at home wondering whether to come: day-trip. Seriously. Sunday is a great way into Greenbelt — turn up for one thing, accidentally stay for six, eat something excellent from a van, hear an idea that annoys you, sing something loudly, and go home slightly rearranged.

Among the more recognisably “church” bits on Sunday:

🍞🍷 Festival Communion — the big Sunday-morning gathering
🕯️ Quiet(er) Communion — bread, w**e and prayer with rather fewer thousand people
🍺🎶 B**r & Hymns — Sunday lunchtime

And that’s before you get to the music, comedy, talks, poetry, theatre, activism, circus, craft and all the bits that refuse to sit politely in one category.

If you’re coming and want to find some familiar faces in the field, we’ve got a Greenbelt WhatsApp catch-up group running. Message Beth and I’ll add you.

Signal on site is terrible, so the group works largely through timestamps, hope and occasional telecommunications miracles. 📵

No church in school this Sunday. Quite a lot of church, though.

While you're there:
🗣️ Fringe Dweller: Flip the Script - Jonny Baker & David Cotterill with guest artists, Saturday 29 Aug, 11am, Shelter
🤝 Pioneer meet-up - Friday 28 Aug, 3.30pm, Hope and Anchor
📍 CMS stand - come and connect all weekend, grab the new pioneer training prospectus, or ask us about Aspen, our newest ecclesial community

Come and say hi, we'd love to meet you there!

☀️🍞☕ FINAL Summer Breakfast tomorrow!

Join us at 10am for breakfast, conversation and worship as we explore the theme Receiving and Giving through the stories of Mary & Martha and the Good Samaritan.

This week we’ll be sharing Communion together around the breakfast table, drawing particularly on our Baptist tradition, with different voices leading our thanksgiving and prayers.

There’ll be plenty of ways to explore at your own pace:

🟠 Playdough — make food for Martha’s table, or something that helps people meet with God, before the bell rings and we simply stop for a moment.

✨ Reflection bottles — shake, watch everything settle, and make space to notice God.

🖐 Unfolding paper hands — thinking about how we receive God’s love and how that love might flow out towards others.

🪨 Prayer beside the road — remembering people who need somebody to notice, stop and care.

🎨 And our new Fed with Grace · Sent in Love colouring sheet.

We’ll also have copies of Gerard Kelly’s beautiful poem Everything We Bring on the tables, and during Exploring the big screen will be showing At The Table from The Presence Project.

If you can’t join us in person, you can still take a few minutes to join in from home, holiday or work:

10am tomorrow — breakfast first, then Communion still gathered around the “table”.

Come as you are. ❤️

At The Table   I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life. I am the bread of life. Your forefathers ate the manna in the desert, yet they died. But there is a bread that comes down from heaven, which a man may eat and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If any...

We’re really pleased to see the next chapter of Northstowe Youth Hive taking shape. 🐝💛

Youth Hive began after local young people told us they wanted more for teenagers in Northstowe. Pathfinder Church helped bring people together, find partners and get the first work started — and it’s brilliant to see the now-independent Youth Hive continuing to grow, with young people themselves increasingly shaping what happens next.

So if you’re a young person in Northstowe with ideas about what would make this a better place to grow up, this is for you.

📅 Monday 21 September
⏰ 5–6pm
📍 Blossom Room, Unity Centre

They’re looking for the first six members of the new Youth Committee — and one of the first jobs will be deciding what on earth to call it instead of “the committee”! 😄

Have a look at the post below, or visit youthhive.co.uk to find out more. 🐝

📣 Northstowe Youth Hive – Our First Youth Committee Meeting! 🐝💛

📅 Monday 21st September
⏰ 5:00–6:00pm
📍 Blossom Room, Unity Centre

This is the start of something new, with our Youth Committee connecting every two weeks to share ideas, work on projects and make sure young people have a real voice in our community.

At our first meeting, you can:

🐝 Become a member of the Northstowe Youth Hive
💡 Share your questions, ideas and suggestions
🎨 Find out about our current projects
🤝 Meet other young people and become part of the team
🚀 Help shape what we do next
✍️ Create a new Logo and name for future meetings

Could you be one of our first 6 Youth Committee members? 🌟

You don’t need any experience — just bring your ideas, enthusiasm and willingness to get involved!

Come along, have your say and help us make Northstowe an even better place for young people. 💜💚💗

After walking 15 miles together on pilgrimage today, some of us will be bringing very fresh experience of what it means to be on the road together when we gather for Summer Breakfast tomorrow!

Perfect timing, really — because tomorrow’s story takes us onto the road with Jesus as he sends people out two by two, travelling lightly, learning to depend on one another, and discovering God already at work ahead of them.

Join us for breakfast, conversation, exploring and worship as we wonder:

What can we do together that we couldn’t do alone?

Not walking 15 miles? You can still be part of the pilgrimage.

Some of us will be driving to Ely to meet the pilgrims as they arrive, before we all head together to Ely Cathedral for Evensong.

So whether you want the full day’s walk, would like to join us just for the final part of the journey, or simply fancy welcoming some slightly tired pilgrims into Ely, there’s room to join in.

Why walk fifteen miles to somewhere you could reach much faster? As we prepare to pilgrimage from Waterbeach to Ely, we’re borrowing an ancient instinct: letting the road itself matter. With St Eth…
