🌟 Whats Coming up 🌟

🙏 September Communion services: Our next Communion services will take place on Sunday 6th September at 9.45am (Longniddry), 11am (Gladsmuir) and 6.30pm
(Longniddry). Join us then!

🎤 “Sing at 6.30” grand finale!: On Sunday 13th September at 6.30pm, Gladsmuir Church will be welcoming back the Heart & Soul Swing Band for an evening of gospel rhythm and blues. Everyone will be welcome at this, our final summer evening service of 2026. The evening will revolve around congregational singing and band numbers. There will be a retiring offering to benefit Christian Aid
Scotland. And, as ever, refreshments will be served at the close. All welcome!

🥌 New Age Kurling: Tuesdays from 2-4pm in Room 3, Longniddry Church.

🍰 Wednesday Club: From 2.30-4pm in Room 2, Longniddry Church. Come along and enjoy a variety of activities and tea/coffee.

🎸 Old-time Country at St Martin’s: The Martha Spencer Trio from Virginia, USA, will be performing their mix of mountain music, Americana and acoustic swing on Thursday 20th August (7pm) in St Martin’s Parish Church (4 Magdalene Drive, Edinburgh EH15 3DB). Tickets £10 (concessions £7).

Longniddry Fruit Festival 2026: The village of Longniddry is planning to celebrate its fruit … and more! This year’s inaugural event is set for Saturday 3rd October at Longniddry Church, so if you make jam, chutney or other preserves, or if you are a baker then please set a date in your diary now. The aim is to create a
harvest hub with displays, produce swap, a community fruit and vegetable collection, apple pressing, competitions, children’s activities and crafts, plus live music and refreshments. More details in the coming weeks, or speak to Frances.

🌟 What’s coming up 🌟

🌱 Charity Open Garden event: Everyone is invited to visit “The Geans” on Gosford Road, Longniddry, to view the property’s lovely garden. This charitable event will be taking place this Sunday (5th) from 1-5pm, with admission at £6 per adult (also, tea and cakes available for £5). In aid of the Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust.

🎶 “Sing at 6.30”: Gladsmuir Parish Church’s worship evening for July is set for Sunday 19th on the theme: “Songs of Light and Glory”, with uplifting hymns to illuminate our praise. Admission free (offering to benefit Christian Aid Scotland).

📖 Calling Gladsmuir readers!: Would you like to receive The Sunday Focus for 26th July, plus 2nd and 9th August? If so, please drop Abigail Morrison an e-mail on [email protected] , specifically requesting this. 🌟 What’s Coming Up 🌟

🎵 Sing at 6.30”: Gladsmuir Parish Church’s next worship evening for the summer season is set for next Sunday (21st) at, of course, 6.30pm. In a break from tradition, we will be enjoying a “Gospel Karaoke Night”, when the Rev Bill Wishart and the Rev Erica Wishart will be leading us, alongside their hi-tech box of musical tricks, a couple of radio mics and one very, very large TV. As Charlie’s publicity material notes: “This is something completely different - one you cannot miss - come along
and “sing your wee hearties oot.” In addition, everyone will be very welcome to join in hymns and songs accompanied by our two church organs. Refreshments served after the benediction. Admission free, with a retiral offering to benefit Christian Aid Scotland.

☕️ Fancy a cuppa? A reminder that our coffee catch-up will take place at Starbucks near the top of the Coal Road this Friday (29th) at 10am. All welcome!

🏃‍♂️ St Marys’ Pilgrimage: The Rugged Pathway Pilgrimage is taking place this Saturday (30th), walking the 14 miles from St Mary’s, Haddington to St Mary’s, Whitekirk, with stops on the way for quiet reflection. There will also be also refreshment stops at Athelstaneford and Prestonkirk in East Linton. The walk will commence from St Mary’s Haddington after a short service at 9.30 am. 🪄 Longniddry Gala Magic Night: Come along to Longniddry Parish Church on Wednesday 3rd June from 7-8pm for some fun from Bill Wishart and Robin. There will be laughs … gasps … and maths (though only the fun kind). Free to all.

🌟 What’s Coming Up 🌟

🤔 Presbytery Daily Thoughts: Until the Day of Pentecost (Sunday 24th May) the Presbytery of Lothian & Borders is hosting daily thoughts on its website
(www.lothianandborderspresbytery.org.uk). This “Pathway to Pentecost” will be
“paved” by church members, elders and ministers from across our area, including
a full familiar names! Visit the website each day and join the journey.

🎨 Community Art Group: Exciting News! We are starting a new project, exploring woven tapestry. All welcome to come along on Thursdays at 2.15pm (please note new start time) in Longniddry Church, Room 2. Free of charge.

🎵 “Sing at 6.30”: Gladsmuir Church’s monthly summer evening services continue
on Sunday 17th May, when we will welcome back Huw Thomas, organist at Queensferry Church, who will speak about why the church music of his Welsh homeland is so special. A big sing is guaranteed! Admission free, with an offering to benefit Christian Aid. Refreshments will be served after the benediction.

🪴 Christian Aid Plant Sales: These are planned for Saturday 23rd May between
10am and 12 noon in Longniddry Church grounds, with refreshments available in
the halls; and Sunday 24th May between 12 noon and 2pm at Blindwells Primary School. Please save the dates and come along to support these popular events. Donations of plants are always welcome. Details to follow!
