A Prayer For Volunteers Week

Lord we give thanks for everyone who gives their time to support our St John's community - Sunday worship, WoW, Manna food, Uniformed groups and all the other activities
We thank you for their dedication and the many skills they bring.
Pour out your blessings and strengthen volunteers, especially the many people who serve here at St John’s.
May our many volunteers know the difference they make, and feel the comfort and joy they bring to others.
Call us and give us confidence to act in your name.
Give us grace to build your kingdom here.

St John's was delighted to take part in the 'Thy Kingdom Come' celebration event.
We made prayer paper garlands, which joined with hundreds of others across the Diocese to make huge paper chains.

The world wide Pentecost event had a powerful collection of films, reflections and stories from a range of voices across different denominations and traditions. 🎥🎬

Thy Kingdom Come is an 11-day global ecumenical prayer movement that unites Christians worldwide to pray for friends and family to come to faith in Jesus. Taking place annually between Ascension and Pentecost.

Including contributions from His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Mothers' Union, John Bostock & Ballers In God, Saint Church, The London Institute for Contemporary Christianity and many more.

Today we celebrate Pentecost.
This is when the Holy Spirit was given to the followers of Jesus to help, guide, strengthen and support them.
As Christians, we have the Holy Spirit to help us today - when we need strength, comfort and wisdom.
