The Seeking Shepherd found the baby in the manger - just as the angels had said!

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

“Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told

For the 4th Sunday in Advent the seeking shepherd went to Inver and Mountcharles Church for a family service in Mountcharles. We enjoyed thinking about getting ready for Christmas and making sure we don't forget why we get to celebrate. The seeking shepherds are getting closer to the baby Jesus.

A great morning spent thinking about why we celebrate Christmas and remembering to keep Jesus at the centre of our celebrations.

The shepherds having starting seeking the baby Jesus! First stop was a visit to the Christmas Tree Festival at Aghadowey. It was great to meet the school children and think about the Greatest Journey.

If you have a young leader involved in your children's ministry then this is the course for them! Applications are now open!

Applications are now open for our young leaders training programme! We’re super excited to be running this again after the success of our first group.

We’re looking for young people that are roughly 16-18 (last two years of school or equivalent) who are looking to understand what it means to be a Christian leader, what values are important to them and wanting to push themselves to grow in confidence, experience and knowledge in a safe learning space while having fun and meeting other young people.

The information sheet and application form can be found here: linktr.ee/DerryRaphoeYouth

We had a great day at our Family Fun Day in Castlerock. We started with a service of celebration. Rev. Johnny McFarland led our worship, Rev. Chris MacBruithin talked to us about the Wise and Foolish Builder, and the Bishop closed our service in prayer. Families then had a chance to get creative by designing their own kites. The weather was mostly kind, but a few showers didn't dampen the fun on the beach. The sandcastle competition was very competitive - well done to everyone who took part!
A big thank you to Christ Church, Castlerock for hosting us and to all who helped make the day a success.
An even bigger thank you to the parishes and families who came along and took part in everything! Here are a few pictures to give an ideal of what we got up to...
