Ps 21:1-10 NLT
“How the king rejoices in your strength, O Lord! He shouts with joy because you give him victory. For you have given him his heart’s desire; you have withheld nothing he requested. You welcomed him back with success and prosperity. You placed a crown of finest gold on his head. He asked you to preserve his life, and you granted his request. The days of his life stretch on forever. Your victory brings him great honor, and you have clothed him with splendor and majesty. You have endowed him with eternal blessings and given him the joy of your presence. For the king trusts in the Lord. The unfailing love of the Most High will keep him from stumbling. You will capture all your enemies. Your strong right hand will seize all who hate you. You will throw them in a flaming furnace when you appear. The Lord will consume them in his anger; fire will devour them. You will wipe their children from the face of the earth; they will never have descendants.”
Victory is
Overcoming an enemy; an act of defeating an enemy or opponent in a battle, game, or other competition.
The term victory originally applied to warfare, and denotes success achieved in personal combat, after military operations in general or, by extension, in any competition.
Brethren, in life and most especially for believers, victory over enemies, either spiritual or physical, can not come by mere human physical strength or knowledge, because this world is war.
However, the scripture tells us in 1 Samuel 2:9 that He (God) will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail. And Paul in his letter to the Romans said in the 3rd chapter verse 20 “Therefore by deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for the law is the knowledge of sin.
This then mean, children of the Most High, that our victory comes from only one place - from God! Hallelujah!!!
2 Samuel 22:51 (NCV) confirms this through King David, who says, The Lord gives victories to his kings. (I will advice we read this from verse 44).
Beloved, let no one deceive you, only with God and in God can we and we will gain our victory because, according to Ps 60:11 all human help is useless but the next verse, 12, says, with God’s help we will do mighty things, for He will trample down our foes. And as we know, our victory is certain in Christ but we need to have the right attitudes to walk victoriously.
How do we gain victory?
Be strong and immovable, always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless. 1 Cor 15:58. Remember the story of David and Goliath, he came to the battle front on errand from his father, leaving behind the few sheep of the family and was rebuked by his senior brother. He remained unmoved and went on to enquire about the battle and the uncircumcised Philistine blaspheming the Lord of Hosts. Even at seeing Goliath, he remained strong in faith, that the Lord will fight for him. This is also to confirm that our victory is certain; it has been made possible by the blood shed on the cross. I enjoin you to remain unshaken.
Victory depends on our obedience and commitment - Judges 7:21(15-25). Be battle ready through your obedience and following of instructions from the battle’s Chief Commandant. In this case, you will discover that you may not even fight any battle yourself. It is the Chief Commandant that will do the fighting on your behalf. The Lord will fight your battle for you.
Victory comes from continually renewing our relationship with God - 1 Sam. 4:2-8. If you want to be experiencing God’s victory regularly, seeking Him, to know Him better must be our pre-occupation. This is our calling. Christ did this regularly(as a matter of priority) and He had victory over the Devil and even death, our greatest enemy and the accuser of the brethren! So likewise are the apostles.
Be Positive. When we focus on the negative, we may end up robbing ourselves of victories - Deut. 1:23-40(28-32). Also, David was positive from the on set that Goliath will fall.
Don’t allow fear to keep you from getting your victory - 1 Chr. 11:12-14. While others ran for dear lives, Eleazar stood at the centre and defended, and was given victory.
Remember, you can not win alone - 2 Chr. 14:11, cry for help, not from man, but from Him, who is able to deliver us from all wars and battles, and He will surely send help and deliver you and l from all our troubles
And finally, my brothers and my sisters, after victory, comes peace. When we have the right attitudes, have positive minds, do away with fear, be obedient and committed to Him, and on daily basis renew our relationship with God. Then, that peace of God, that victory that has been elusive for so long, that peace that reassures the heart, that peace which transcends, confounds all human understanding, that peace which stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus will be yours and will be mine in Jesus mighty name.
Prayer: Father, l thank you, because you will fight for me in all my battles, to give me victory.
Have a victorious and peaceful month.
