Hinde Street Methodist Church

Hinde Street Methodist Church Welcome to Hinde Street, a warm and welcoming Methodist church located in the heart of Marylebone. Both of these services take place twice a month.

We are an inclusive and affirming, open-minded, and justice-seeking community, committed to God's love in all things. We join for worship on Sundays at 11am, both in person and via Zoom. We also have services at 9.30am in person and 6:30pm via Zoom. We belong to the Methodist Church in Britain https://www.methodist.org.uk/. We’re also a member of Churches Together in Westminster and have a special

partnership with our Anglican neighbours at St Marylebone Parish Church. Along with the Chinese and international congregations at King’s Cross Methodist Church, we are part of the West London Mission which empowers and assists people affected by homelessness, poverty and trauma through a wide range of services. Hinde Street Methodist Church and Kreuzkirche, Leipzig, shared worship on Sunday 16th August in partnership that first began in the 1980s.

As part of this service, Rev Peter Cornick and the Hinde Street congregation sent a greeting to Leipzig, whilst the Kreuzkirche's Rev Katrin Roscher shared a video that explored the theme of ‘gifts’. The mosaic of colours Katrin created asked what kind of gifts we bring, or are yet to discover, and how each gift is precious to God. Christophe Borysiewicz's sermon also explored this theme in both German and English.

Thanks to the ministers and congregations at both Hinde Street and Leipzig for the continued partnership between our churches!

Hinde Street is once again taking part in London's Open House Festival - now less than a month away!

This year, we are officially opening our doors on Saturday 12 September between 10am and 4pm for visitors to come see our beautiful Grade II-listed church. Additionally, a community exhibition entitled Memories of Marylebone will be on display and open to visitors not only on Saturday but also Friday 11th at 11am-1pm and 4pm-7pm. Ahead of this Sunday's service, we share this prayer for peace by Félix A Posada Rojas, Director of CEPALC, Colombia:

We thank you, our Father and Mother, for teaching us the value of hope in the midst of the storms that accompany our lives. We thank you for being able to share with the poorest people the hunger and thirst for love that gives meaning to life. From our humble condition as your children, we pray that the wars will end. We beg you to perform one of your miracles of love and wisdom so that armies may be transformed into sowers of peace, justice and fraternity for their countries and for our world.

Thank you for allowing us to be resurrected everyday thanks to the water of new life of the gospel. Amen.

Calling all those who have lived or worked in Marylebone or have otherwise made memories in the area!

We are seeking contributions, including photographs, written pieces, artworks, archival materials, and creative takes on memory for an exhibition entitled Memories of Marylebone. The exhibition will be taking place at Hinde Street Methodist Church 11-12 September with an organ recital and Open House also scheduled.

Individuals, businesses, galleries, communities, schools and more are welcome to contribute - please do spread the word to your friends!
