The Bishop of Southwark’s Lent Call 2026 – Week 1
Bishop Christopher has called individuals, churches and schools to observe a prayerful, thoughtful and holy Lent for many years now. As part of this observance of Lent, he has asked that individuals and communities consider whether they can give to support various projects. More recently these projects have been in our Link Dioceses in Jerusalem and Zimbabwe.

Profound stories shared by members of our local community who were interviewed about the work of Walworth Living, a project of Pembroke House that takes place in our church hall.

People come for different reasons, but everyone interviewed here makes a big contribution to our community life.

Director Mike Wilson says, “We’re not branding it as a ‘warm bank’, in the same way we wouldn’t brand it as a ‘food bank’, because our aim long term is to build the type of neighbourhood in which food banks and warm banks are not needed.”

One of the Anglican marks of mission is seeking to transform the unjust structures of society, and this aim is one of the areas where the purposes of the church and Pembroke House align together with Walworth Living Room, a home for people of all faiths and none.

Mass is celebrated fortnightly at Walworth Living Room, 10 am on alternate Thursdays (starting again on 15th January). Please come and join us!

As places such as Walworth Living Room step in to help people in need, charities lament lack of government help
