St George the Martyr, Southwark

St George the Martyr, Southwark St George's is a friendly, diverse & fully inclusive church community in Southwark. St George’s is friendly and welcoming congregation.

Details of all our Christmas services can be found at https://www.achurchnearyou.com/church/811/service-and-events/events-oneoff/ We are thankfully growing as new people move into the area and others hear about what’s going on. People of all ages, backgrounds and life experiences worship here. Some have lived and worshipped here for many years. We are developing a ministry to students and young pr

ofessionals, many of whom are moving into the area. We particularly welcome children and have recently established a Sunday School for those of primary school age. We are particularly blessed by a good number of people from an African and Afro-Caribbean heritage. Our worship:
Morning Prayer - Monday-Friday 8:30, Saturday 9:00
Evening Prayer - Monday-Friday 5:00
Said Eucharist - Wednesday 12:45
Sung Eucharist - Sunday 11am

Our main weekly worship on Sunday at 11am is a Sung Eucharist and is quite traditional in form. We try hard to engage seriously with scripture in our preaching and reflection, and to pray and work for the needs of the world and especially our local community.. We seek to celebrate joyfully with a variety of musical styles – from traditional hymns and anthems to modern choruses and worship songs. Above all we aim to be welcoming and to give newcomers space and peace. The service is always followed by a chance to meet and chat over coffee and cake and often more! There is a new candlelit service of Compline at 7pm starting on Sunday 27th September. See news feed and twitter for details! See website for details of projects, activities and volunteering opportunities!
