BREAKING NEWS: Museum of The Book, London, is on exhibition in India displaying original William Carey Bibles and documents. Here is one recent report and video of students holding a Torah Scroll and dancing in celebration, much like Jewish communities worldwide celebrate every year during Simchat Torah. If you have never attended Simchat Torah make a request to your local Synagogue and ask to join them later this year. Don't be surprised if they ask you to participate n the celebration. Google it on Youtube. Expand your horizons.

Report: Thank you for your prayers and support.

I will give you all the details when I return next week. They were fired up about the Torah (at Richard Howell's Caleb Institute). They had received a Torah in 2017. We had a very meaningful ministry on their campus. Richard said weeping to the crowds that "the exaltation of God's Word was one of the most meaningful experiences of his life."

I have included two wonderful videos of part of their celebration. The dancers are from Punjab where a major revival is taking place. Sikhs are being converted in large numbers. One name Surrender Singh traveled 5 hours to the exhibit in Haryana State. He spoke of the persecution he has endured for the Lord. He is bishop of the Church of God and has led 1,500 people to the Lord and there is no stopping him. He said "the memory of those who suffered to preserve God's word will be an inspiration to him."

The center of revival in Punjab is a Christian hospital. It is next to one of the largest Sikh temples. Richard said that there is a lot of common ground with the Sikhs and they have a very high regard for scripture. He is convinced that your Torah gift will be used to further the revival.

Thanks for everything. I hope all is well. We start at Gandhi's school (St. Stephen's) tomorrow. I will keep you posted.
Serving with gratitude,
Scott

The Bottle

George Cruickshank (1792-1878) and Charles Dickens(1812-1870)

George Cruickshank was a popular and successful British caricaturist and book illustrator, even illustrating some of Charles Dicken’s novels. In fact, the two talented men were great friends, so much so they often enjoyed ‘pub crawling’ together. But something happened that caused an irreparable rift between the two men. It appears, whatever happened to George caused him to stop drinking alcohol and this led to a breakup in their partnership. Charles and George went their separate ways. Some say Dickens’ sacked George. In 1847 at the very hight of Cruickshank’s career he produced a series of eight etchings entitled ‘The Bottle’. The etchings depict a family brought to ruin by alcohol. “The Bottle” sold more than 100,000 copies within a few days. I’ll leave it to you study the storyline of a family brought to ruin by alcohol. But notice, it wasn’t the children’s fault!

Although, Dickens and Cruickshank disagreed about drinking, they did agree about one thing. It was discovered after their deaths that they both had fathered illegitimate children. But it wasn’t the children’s fault. Often children are stigmatized for the sins of the parents. It’s never the children’s fault!

The final five pictures in the photo gallery really speak for themselves. After each photo say to yourself, “It wasn’t the children’s fault!”

All of the above items can be seen at the Museum of The Book, London. Opening by appointment only.

Charles Haddon Spurgeon(1834-1892)

Charles Spurgeon was the eldest child of Eliza Jarvis and John Spurgeon. It is reported that Charles first read 'Pilgrim's Progress' at the early age of six years old. Is that even possible? He was living with his grandfather, James Spurgeon, at the time. Here is a book given to him by his "Aunt Emily Jarvis" on December 3rd, 1839 at the age of five and half. The title of the Book is 'Truth Made Simple, Being a System of Theology for Children' by Rev. John Todd. Todd was a Congregational minister in America. The Spurgeon and Jarvis familes of the 18th and early 19th centuries were also Congregationalists. Todd wrote his theology book for his own young son. Would it be today that parents would give their children books that Glorify God.

Prov.22 [6] Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
