LIFE AT THE SECRET PLACE
Psalm 91:1,
Matthew 6:6,
Psalm 63:1-8

Intimacy with God in secret fuels strength and fruitfulness in public

Introduction:
CHECK!
A phone at 6% battery cannot take you a whole day. It needs charging in private, out of sight.

Our spiritual life is the same. Public work, school, and service drain us. The secret place is where we plug into God and recharge. Jesus, though God’s Son, often withdrew to pray alone
[Luke 5:16].

Goal for today:
Understand what the secret place is, see how life there looks, and commit to practicing it this week.

DEFINITION
Psalm 91:1 – “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”

Matthew 6:6 – “When you pray, go into your room and shut the door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place.”

The secret place is not a physical location. It is a posture of the heart—a hidden, personal meeting with God away from eyes, noise, and performance.

What it does:
1. Power is charged: Like a battery, we draw strength for the week ahead.
2. Relationship is deepened: We know God personally, not just about Him.
3. Direction is received: Confusion gives way to clarity when we wait on Him.

Key idea:
Public fruit flows from a private root. What is built in secret sustains what is seen in public.

HOW IS LIFE IN THE SECRET PLACE?
From Psalm 63:1-8, we see 3 marks of life in the secret place:

A. Thirst and Intimacy
[Psalm 63:1-3]
“O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You.”
Life in the secret place begins with desire. It’s not duty or ritual, but a personal hunger for God. Here we talk to Him honestly and enjoy His presence.

B. Strength and Peace [Psalm 63:5-7]
“My soul shall be satisfied… in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice.”
In the secret place, anxiety is exchanged for peace. We remember God’s help, meditate on His word, and leave stronger than we came.

C. Protection and Security [Psalm 91:1-2]
“He who dwells in the secret place shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”
Consistent time with God roots us so that fear, temptation, and discouragement lose power. We are guarded because we are near.

Barriers that stop us:
1. Busyness: Like Martha, we get busy for God and miss God [Luke 10:40-42].
2. Distraction: Phones, noise, and endless scrolling crowd out quiet time.
3. Performance mindset: Praying only when others see us.

Jesus overcame temptation because He lived from the secret place. We can too.

Recap:
The secret place is where we meet God alone. There we find intimacy, strength, and protection. What is built in secret sustains us in public.

Application for this week:
Commit to 10-15 minutes daily with God. No phone, no distraction. Read one short passage, talk to God honestly, and listen.

Memory Verse:
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” [Matt 6:33].

Call to Response:
Who will take the challenge to meet God daily this week? It doesn’t have to be long or perfect. Just show up.

Closing Prayer:
“Father, draw us into the hidden place with You. Forgive us for substituting activity for intimacy. Teach us to hunger for You more than approval or success. Make our secret place the source of our public strength. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

BUT NOW!

Isaiah 43:1
But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.

INTRODUCTION
Today, I'm going to show us two of the most hopeful words that can appear in scripture, where the prophet says, I know you have been a long way off, I know you are in a strange place and condition, you are in a situation that you are not equipped to deal with, and I know that it's your fault.

But when you open the above scripture, Isa. 43:1, get ready to shout, BUT NOW...

Please say it loud, NOW...
1. Say it to your past, say NOW
2. Say it to your shame, Now
3. Say it to that thing from childhood you have been dragging around, NOW
4. Say it to the people who rejected you but God brought in someone to replace them, say NOW
5. Say it to the side of you that worries about the future so much that you cannot concentrate, say NOw

There should be a NOW ANOINTING rising up in this place today...

I feel that the Lord has anointed me today for your NOW

I may not have known you 15 years ago, but God has put you here NOW

I know there could be some time in your life that you wish you could get back, but NOW...

If I could nominate two words from the above text to encourage someone and turn on the lights, I will nominate, BUT NOW...

IMPLICATIONS

“But Now" in Isaiah 43:1

- “But": A contrast to past circumstances, implying a shift from previous struggles or fears.
- "Now": Indicates the present moment, emphasizing God's current intervention and action.

Together, "But Now" signifies a transition from a place of difficulty to a place of God's intervention, redemption, and peace. It's a call to recognize God's present action amidst past struggles.

1. The "BUT" lets me know that something came before that was going to cancel our
2. The "NOW" lets me know that it's not over and it's not too late
3. The BUT lets me know that there was something that was blocking me
4. The NOW lets me know that there is something bigger that is breaking through

LAST WORDS
1. No condemnation...
Romans 8:1
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

2. You are delivered...
Romans 7:6
But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

3. The Lord is with thee...
Isaiah 43:1
But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.

Say it out,
BUT NOW..
Amen!

EMBRACING THE BLESSING AND JOY OF THE LORD…

Embracing the blessing and joy of the Lord is about tapping into His love and provision for in His presence, anointing breaks the yoke.

As Psalm 16:11 says, "You make known to me the path of life; in Your presence there is fullness of joy."
Psa. 16:11

It's about finding joy in His presence, trusting in His goodness, and sharing that joy with others.

May you experience God’s Blessing and Joy this week in Jesus name, Amen.
