From our first service in September 1981, the Temple has grown
and adapted to the changing needs of our Community. We adopt a holistic approach - providing for the spiritual, moral
and emotional needs of our devotees, as well as seeking to help
our surrounding community. In addition to performing all the services of a traditional Hindu
Temple (daily religious services, celebrating Hindu festiva
ls,
births, weddings, funeral and death anniversary rites), we also
arrange talks and discussion groups by experts in religion and
philosophy. We conduct meditation classes, health seminars
and provide facilities for the teaching of Indian religious classical
music, dance and spiritual education. In addition, emotional and psychological counselling has also
been available at the Temple since 2010, via our partnership
programme with the NHS, providing weekly sessions for
treatment of depression and other psychological issues on a
group treatment basis, as well as on a one-to-one basis,
with NHS counsellors who are Tamil speaking, offering a service
that is part of a ground-breaking project in mental healthcare
services in the NHS, inspiring research papers and even forming
part of a PhD thesis
