Blessed, Happy New Year. Remember everyday to let God be the Good Shepherd of your life, so that you will not lack in any good thing. We by ourselves know nothing of our lives apart from allowing Jesus Christ, the source of our living to lead, guide, protect and provide for us everyday. As you lean on Jesus, you will enjoy life more in abundance everyday.

Looking ahead

Philippians 3:13 says, "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forth unto those things which are before".
We all have past mistakes in our lives, but do we allow those mistakes to haunt us, discourage us and make us afraid or do we move forward and forget the past? We are to learn from our past mistakes and not repeat them. Furthermore, we are to give thanks to God for His grace in forgiving us of our sins.
In Exodus 14, the Israelite's were caught between their past, their present and the fear of their enemies pursuing them. Some even decided to go back but God told them to go forward into the great plans He had for them.

Fear, discouragement and negative influence can take hold of us and stop us from going forward, but God is always ready to help us go forward. He is always ready to give us strength, bind our wounds, heal our broken hearts, restore and renew us and give us a fresh start.
When an athlete in on the track, they can run in only one direction; forward and not backwards. Their focus is to win.
We like athletes, must focus on God and be winners in life.

Every thing in life is easy when you are in Christ Jesus. Put God first and watch Him do great things in your life.

People love to blame others when things go wrong in their lives. People don't want to own up to their own wrong doings. That was the case of the king of Israel from 2 Kings 6:24 to chapter 7. The Syrians invaded the city of Samaria which brought famine to the land. This happened to them due to their disobedience to God and His commandments. Instead of the king seeking the face of God in genuine repentance, he blamed God for what had happened.
Yet God in His mercy revealed to Elisha there would be a miraculous deliverance and provision for the people. An officer working for the king refused to believe God's promise and ridiculed God. The promise came to pass but this faithless officer did not partake in the promise. God's words are true and we should not wonder how it will be fulfilled in our lives. The Israelite's were under siege by the Syrians, yet God made the Syrians to hear noises of chariots and horses that made them run away thinking someone was coming after them. Four lepers who were outcast came out from their imprisonment to the Syrians camp and discovered the abundance of food, drink & gold, as God promised. This brought deliverance to the Israelite's and their captivity was over. People wonder if they can be free from misery and terrible situations in life. So long as your 100% trust is in God, He knows how to make a way of escape for you. He knows how to bring deliverance to you. Lepers in the old times were abandoned from the Jewish community to an isolated place and is known as outcasts. Yet they were the ones God used to announce good news to the rest of the people. God can use anyone and do anything to deliver and restore every life that trusts in Him. He made the Syrians hear noises of chariots and horses and they fled when there was nothing. Is there anything hard for God to do? Not at all. Believe in nothing but in His word.

Give Him Thanks
Thanksgiving is an attitude of appreciation and gratitude to God for something He has done for you. The Bible says in Psalm 92:1 that it is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD. That means it is a bad thing to not do so.
It is so important to always find something to thank God for. That is why the Psalmist was a thoughtful man, because he always had reasons to be thankful to God. He said in Psalm 103:1-2, "Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits:" He went on to list out all God's benefits in his life. God expects an acknowledgement from us after everything He has done in our lives. Life is the most valuable possession. Those who don't have value for life don't have value for God, for God is the author of life. If things did not go well for you this year, be grateful to God and thank Him, for He is the reason why you are alive. When you thank God for the little that He has done for you, He will bring abundance of His purpose into your life. It is not enough to see things happening before thanking God in a special way. Thank Him for whatever and where ever you are now. Don't wait to see whatever you are believing God for to first happen before you appreciate Him. If you do that you will not experience new things happening for you, you will remain the same as you are all the time. Look into your life from January up to now and appreciate God for His goodness and mercy upon your life, your family, your marriage, home, business, health education and the list goes on and give Him thanks and watch Him doing wonders in your life in the year 2019. Thanksgiving is a spiritual yeast that brings multiplication. Give God thanks and He will be compelled to perfect whatever He has begun in your life. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

Understand what Christianity is about.
Christianity is summarized in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried, resurrected and offers salvation to every one who will receive Him in faith. Christianity is about having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and not the do's and don'ts of religion. In every relationship you get to know the person and their character. Therefore, the goal of a Christian is to cultivate a close walk with Jesus Christ, which is possible through the power of the Holy Spirit of God. There is nothing any one can do to earn salvation except believing in Jesus Christ. Salvation is freedom from sinful nature where people do things out of ignorance however there is freedom to pursue righteousness with Jesus Christ. In Matthew 21:13, Jesus made us understand that his house shall be called the house of prayer. But many Christians have been manipulated into thinking that seed sowing in terms of money in the house of God will protect and bring blessing to them. Such thinking is very wrong as Hosea 4:6 tells us that lacking the knowledge of God, destroys a person. If you allow your Christianity to be focused on seed sowing, then you do not understand what and why Jesus came into the world for. No man can satisfy your deepest longings, but if you chose to delight in God's way, He is the One that will provide above and beyond your expectation. You will also be wise and will not allow anyone to manipulate you to sow a seed before you can prosper. Therefore seek God and know Jesus Christ with all of your heart, so that He can re-align your relationship with Him to make you grow in the knowledge of Him through the Bible and the Holy Spirit of God

Don't allow your life to continue to remain the same, for our great and faithful God has great plans for you. You need to find out and fulfil it. Parents let your presence be there for your children at home and pray for them at all times.
