Come, Holy Spirit! 🔥🕊️

Today we celebrate Pentecost Sunday — the day the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles, filling them with courage, faith, and joy to share the Gospel with the world.

May the Spirit renew our hearts, strengthen our parish community, and guide us to live as witnesses of Christ every day.

“Receive the Holy Spirit.” — John 20:22

The blessing of Easter food is a tradition rich in meaning, reminding us that even the simplest things carry spiritual significance. Each item in the basket tells a story: eggs symbolise new life, bread reflects nourishment and unity, salt represents preservation and truth, and meat marks the end of fasting and the joy of celebration. This ritual is not only about the food itself, but about gratitude, faith, and recognising God’s presence in everyday life. Gathering to have these foods blessed connects generations, strengthens community, and invites us to begin Easter with hearts full of humility, hope, and deep appreciation.

What’s on in Christ Church during Holly Week

29/03/2026

Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week in the Church of England. It is remembered with a procession where people carry palm crosses, symbolising the crowd that welcomed Jesus into Jerusalem. This moment is both joyful and reflective, as it celebrates praise and reminds us how quickly things changed. The walk together helps bring the story to life, not just as history, but as something to experience. It invites us to think about humility, peace, and faith. As the journey toward Easter begins, Palm Sunday encourages reflection on what it truly means to follow and welcome hope into our lives today.
