Oromo Evangelical Church of London
Rooted in the call of Matthew 28:18–20, the Oromo Evangelical Church of London is dedicated to spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ, making disciples of all nations, and teaching obedience to His commands. With the assurance that Jesus is with us always, our church embraces the global mission to reach every person with the love of God. Through worship, fellowship, and outreach, we strive to live out the Great Commission, empowering our community to share the Gospel and grow in faith.
Matthew 28:18–20 — is one of the most powerful and foundational verses in the entire Bible. It’s often called "The Great Commission." Here’s what stands out from the verses.
1. Verse 18 – Authority:
“Gooftummaan hundinuu waaqa irratti lafa irrattis anaaf kennameera.”
Jesus is declaring that all authority — in both heaven and earth — has been given to Him. That means He has ultimate power over everything. So, when He sends His disciples, it's not as ordinary people, but under divine authority.
2. Verse 19 – Mission:
“Egaa dhaqaa... saba hundumaa bartoota koo godhaa!”
This is the heart of the Christian mission — to go to all nations, make disciples, baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It shows that the Gospel is for everyone, regardless of background or language.
3. Verse 20 – Teaching and Presence:
“Waanan isin abboome hundumaa eeguu isaan barsiisaa... ani immoo hamma dhuma baraatti guyyaa hundumaa isinii wajjin nan jira”
Jesus not only commands His followers to teach obedience but also promises His presence every single day — until the end of the age. That’s deeply comforting.
So, these verses contain both a call and a comfort. A call to share the Good News boldly and a promise that we’re never doing it alone.
