Come and join us as we walk through the events of Holy Week that we might know the joy of the resurrection. With poetry, spoken word, art, music from our choir and children’s activities there is something to enable all to connect with the staggering hope revealed at Easter

We share this belief at St John’s and pray for both protest and peace 🙏

“Not That Gospel”
(Inspired by Bishop Cedric Bridgeforth)
By Kate Lore

If your gospel is draped in flags,
armed with hate,
preaching power as salvation—
you are mocking the Prince of Peace.

If your religion can tolerate cages,
sanction disappearance,
call murder law—
it is not the gospel of Jesus of Nazareth.

Jesus does not stand with empires.
He stands with those whom empire wounds.

He stands with the poor,
with the detained and imprisoned,
with the bullied, the silenced,
the bodies broken
by systems that bless themselves as just.

He is found in cells and courtrooms,
in streets where names are erased,
where mothers wail
and fathers weep—
No, God. Not my baby.

Jesus says
What you do to the least,
you do to me.
Release the captive.
Restore the broken.
Follow my teachings
today.

Now.
Not tomorrow.
Not someday.
Now.

This is a Gospel of Love and Liberation.
If you feel lost,
I’ll show you The Way.

The most incredible community celebrated a truly joyful and blessed moment as many were baptised and confirmed. Our community is (proudly) rough around the edges, firmly rooted in Gods grace and full of love and joy. We’re so blessed. Thank you to Bishop Anderson for a joyful, holy moment Anderson Jeremiah Diocese Of London
