At Crown Court Church we rejoice in the wide diversity of people of faith and doubt who make their home in our community, and in we particularly celebrate the place of the LGBT+ people in our rich tapestry of belonging. Not only do we have LGBT folk within our community, but we are also proud to be able to celebrate same s*x marriage at our church, in line with the affirming stance of the national Church of Scotland. We are open and affirming to people of different s*xualities and gender identities, so if you are looking for a church, but have been burned by discrimination or exclusionary practices, you will be warmly welcome here!

On Saturday, nearly 40 enthusiastic singers joined the Crown Court Choir for our second Come and Sing workshop! The afternoon was open to anyone who wanted to learn Schubert’s Mass in G with our wonderful new Choir Director Robin Walker, accompanied by congregation member Thomas Allery on the organ. Thanks to all who worked hard to make the day a success, and all who attended - it's always great to welcome visitors to our church! On Sunday morning, we were delighted that some of the workshop participants joined us for our morning service, in which we sang the 'Gloria' as an anthem. We look forward to the next one - watch this space!

We are so much looking to the induction service for our new minister, the Reverend Tara Porr Granados, which will take place at Crown Court Church on Saturday 20th June at 1.30pm. This special service, led by the Presbytery of England and the Channel Islands, will mark the beginning of Tara's ministry with us, a moment for our congregation and community to welcome her and surround her with God's love.

After the service, refreshments will be served in the church hall, at which there will be an opportunity to get to know Tara over fellowship. We warmly hope that you can join us for this very special occasion!

As always, the service will be live-streamed and available for catch-up on our YouTube channel.

Tomorrow is Pentecost Sunday, the day on when Christians recall how God’s Holy Spirit came to the disciples after Jesus’ ascension, Acts 2, Chapter 2: "When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting."

As disciples of Christ, we look forward to a new chapter in our church life - and tomorrow will also be the last Sunday on which the Call for our new minister, Rev Tara Porr Granados, will be available to sign.

If you are a member of Crown Court, and have not signed as yet, please do get in touch *this weekend* with the Session Clerk, Sheena Clark, who will be able to arrange for you to sign the Call by mandate. Just email her on: [email protected].

Today marks the end of Christian Aid week! Please sponsor our congregation members Harry and M-J, who are running 70k this May to support the brilliant work Christian Aid is doing in Nairobi, Kenya. This campaign film tells the story of Christian Aid's partner Beacon of Hope in Dagoretti: Fridah explains how the Imarisha Kilimo project supported her to grow vegetables to feed her family and provide her with an income.

To donate, just visit our 70k in May challenge page. Harry has already completed his 70k, all in Christian Aid Week, and M-J is 20k down, 50k to go!

We are delighted to announce that the Call for our newly elected minister Reverend Tara Porr Granados will be available to sign for the next two coming Sundays (17th and 24th May). During that time, any person whose name is on the Electoral Register of the congregation may sign the Call in person. Yesterday, we marked the start of Christian Aid week with our annual fundraising challenge! As well as our collections at church, congregation members Mary-Jannet and Harry will each be running 70k in May: Harry will run 10k a day across Christian Aid week - the distance from his home in north London to Crown Court in the West End - and M-J will cover the distance through her training for a 10k race in Hyde Park on 30th May!

Christian Aid does the most incredible work across the world, working with local partners to help people build brighter futures - growing food, earning incomes and standing up for justice. This year's Christian Aid campaign is raising funds for mothers in Nairobi, Kenya, who face the devastating reality of urban poverty and the daily struggle to feed their children.

If you are able, please sponsor Harry and M-J in their challenge for this wonderful cause on their Christian Aid challenge page here:
