Worry is our inability or unwillingness to trust God. Ouch, that kind of hurts, doesn’t it? But if we really get to the issue of worry, we have to admit that we just don’t know if God will do what we want Him to do in our lives. So we worry and ask questions amidst our doubts. Will He.....protect our kids?..provide for our families?..bring healing?

Since we don’t know what lies ahead, we must choose to walk in faith and trust the God we have come to know. When we remind ourselves of what He has done in the past, we can rest in the present and have hope for the future. There is so much we can remember about God, His ability, and His character.

He is everlasting, never becoming tired or growing weary while simultaneously depositing new strength in us (Isaiah 40:28).
He is our Provider of help, never sleeping but instead, watching over us (Psalm 121:2-4).
He grants overwhelming victory to us and never allows anything to separate us from His love (Romans 8:35-39).
He holds our concerns because He cares so deeply for us (1 Peter 5:7).
This God, our God, is the One whom we can trust. There’s no one like Him anywhere, ever. He’s all-powerful, all-knowing, and present all the time. There’s never a place where we’ll be that He’s not already there. He guides, comforts, supplies, strengthens, and provides for us because we are His children, and He adores us. Reminding ourselves of this and living it out every day should help us eradicate the symptom of worry from our lives.

We weren’t born to be worriers. We were born to be warriors. The same power that raised our Savior from the dead is available to us through our Heavenly Father. Here is what God says about us:
He says that we are His children and co-heirs with Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:17)
He calls us more than conquerors. (Romans 8:37)
He created us as His masterpiece and His workmanship, to do good works. (Ephesians 2:10)
He has chosen us, and we are His very own possession. (1 Peter 2:9)
He has called out of darkness into His marvelous light. (1 Peter 2:9)
Eliminating worry from overtaking our lives just takes intentionality on our part. We have to stop toxic, worrisome thoughts

I hear angrily concocted accusations, a whip on innocent skin, a hammer driving nails through open hands, and I hear, “Father, forgive them.” I hear one last breath, and within a beat I hear sky and earth thunder with rock-splitting power. As the right note and pitch cracks the tallest glass ceiling, these sounds tear through religion’s curtain between God and man, from top to bottom.

Then, silence.

For three days, silence. Darkness. Did death win? But dawn brings the slow, crumbling sound of rolling limestone crushing earth covered in morning dew. The tomb is open. Birds sing again. A woman’s feet pit-pat, then stop in their tracks. Her hands drop everything with a childish gasp. Then she hears an Easter sound, “Why do you seek the living among the dead?”

The tomb is empty. Death did not win. The sound of grace is tuned for every ear. And a voice speaks new life, “He is risen.”

The promised Holy Spirit came like a blowing violent wind to fill Jesus’ followers with power. Now, when you speak on behalf of Jesus, you unleash some of that mighty power. When you respond to life with "Thank You, God," He hears beautiful music. An honest "Help me, God!" invites the Holy Spirit’s powerful presence. Your defiant, “Not this time,” silences the stinging ring of sin. A humbling defeat confessed to friends, settles the noise of shame and strikes a chord of healing. You bravely find words to tell others of His love, and the Holy Spirit opens ears.

When you choose to honor God with all of your heart, you choose to abase yourself and magnify His Way of doing things in your life. Choose to build your heart on His Word. His Word has the Ultimate Authority. His Word has the final say.

Choose to set your heart on God. Let His Word order your steps. Choose to surrender to Him daily. When the cares of life seem to overtake you and weigh you down, make a decision to surrender. Choose to surrender to Him. Heaven and Earth bows to God. When the problems and cares of life begin to choke your heart cast your cares to Him. Choose to intentional lay every care, worry and concern at His feet. He cares for you.

Frankincense. Sap.

Yes, frankincense is dried sap from trees. Specifically trees that grow in and around the southern end of the Arabian peninsula.

First, a special knife pierces a wound in the Boswellia sacra tree where the sap begins to seep out. This first sap is not collected, it simply cleanses impurities.

Later, more cuts are made to release a refined liquid. As the sap dries, it creates what’s referred to in the industry as a “tear.” These tears are then collected off the tree, crushed into pieces, and sold as frankincense.

The frankincense delivered to Jesus would have traveled (likely by camel) across the Arabian desert as foreshadowed in Isaiah 60:6. At the time, it would have been worth more than its weight in gold. But it’s in the purpose and function of this gift that we can really start to see its value. Frankincense was most often burned as a type of incense. Actually, the history of the word itself points to something like pure or high-quality incense.

Throughout Old Testament history, this pure incense was used by priests in the temple as part of ritual worship and sacrifice made to God to cover sins. It was also used regularly across the ancient world as a healing agent.

Recent scientific research suggests frankincense still has healing powers, especially against certain cancers. When interviewed by the BBC, immunologist Mahmoud Suhail explained, “Cancer starts when the DNA code within the cell’s nucleus becomes corrupted. It seems frankincense has a reset function. It can tell the cell what the right DNA code should be.”

Why did the wisemen bring the gift of frankincense to young Jesus? Whether they knew it or not, they brought perhaps the only substance that could tell the story of Jesus foretold in Isaiah 53:5 NIV:

But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.

Jesus did this, and Jesus does this. Just like part of the Boswellia sacra tree is crushed to create frankincense, Jesus was crushed so that He could become our healing agent—the ultimate priest who offered His life as the final and perfect sacrifice for our sin and who still goes to God on our behalf. He is the reset function that makes everything right. He is our peace.

Isn't it wonderful to know that your search is now over! You have found the Savior of the world, (although He knew you and sought you first) and you can worship Him just like the Magi / wise men did! They followed the star to Bethlehem to find the King of Kings and Lord of Lords that they were seeking! This was the King that had been foretold would be coming and now they had found Him and came to worship Him.

Today, we don’t have to look for a star to follow in order to find Him because He is always with us! Many today seek the truth in all of the wrong places, only to come up empty handed. If you want to or desire to be wise then seek Jesus Christ today and every day!

Share Jesus with those around you this year so they may come to celebrate "The Gift" of Christmas- Jesus Christ! Not only His birth but Salvation that can only come through Him and by trusting in Him.

There is no gift greater in value or worth than Salvation! In the eternal view of things, Salvation is the one gift that once you truly receive it or have it, you will never forget it or lose it; unlike the gifts that man creates, buys, sells, and gives.

Merry Christmas!

Let's be honest — we're human, and at the core of who we are as humans, there seems to regularly be a desire and a longing for "more." By the world's standard, this could mean more money, more fame, more followers, more comfort, more success, you name it. We find, though, that an earthly view of "more" leads to an empty sense of satisfaction.

You know, when Jesus was born in an obscure village in Judea, the little town of Bethlehem, Mary and Joseph didn't have much, or so it seemed. No place to stay or sleep, not even a hospital or medical team to help with childbirth. What they did have was much more than what it could have looked like from the outside. In their hands, they were holding the greatest miracle in the history of the world wrapped up in swaddling clothes (Luke 2:7), looking right back up at them. No one was expecting grace when Jesus opened His eyes.

The night was holy — it was set apart. It was different because, on this night, there was an abundance of glory in the face of Jesus; even the angels couldn't help but say "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased" (Luke 2:14)! More praise. More honor. More glory to Jesus, the Savior of the world.

Yes, God wants you to have more, but the "more" that He wants you to experience is the fullness of Himself. Paul said it well in his prayer for the church at Ephesus for them to "be filled with all the fullness of God" (Ephesians 3:19). He wants you to know and feel more of who you already are, a child of light (1 Thessalonians 5:5). This Christmas season, let the "more" that you strive to have, be more authentic worship, more intentional relationship, and more real moments with Jesus himself.

The practice of remembering builds a life of gratitude. When we remember that we have been given everything we need for life and godliness in Christ [2 Peter 1:3], that His peace transcends all understanding [Philippians 4:7], that He is near to the brokenhearted [Psalm 34:18], and that He comforts us in all our troubles [2 Corinthians 1:4], we begin to build up and strengthen the shield of faith that protects the joy and hope we know in Jesus.

The Word of God is alive and active. It has power to transform our minds and align our thinking and actions with the heart of Jesus. The more we immerse ourselves in the Word and commit it to memory, the more we will see the overflow of its presence in our lives. Scripture will present itself in moments when we need it most. We’ll be able to encourage others with words of hope and life.

One of the greatest expressions of thankfulness comes through knowing and experiencing the power of the Word of God in our lives. Through the process of hiding His Word in our hearts, we can easily recount all His generosity toward us, being ever reminded that it truly is Christ in you, the hope of glory [Colossians 1:27]. Jesus, the Word, was in the beginning and will be forevermore our hope of glory.

His promises are sure and true.
