Rscj: To be the Heart of God on earth To discover & make known God's infinite, all-embracing love, overflowing from the Open Heart of Jesus (Patricia Garcia de Quevado RSCJ, June 2000)

Religious of the Sacred Heart (RSCJ) are called to discover and reveal God's love for all, whose source is in the Open Heart of Jesus. We aim to be contemplative in spirit, generous and educative in mission and passionate for justice, peace and the integrity of creation. We are contemplatives in action, rooted in prayer and reflection, as, by looking deeply at the world around us, we try to see it

as God sees it, so that we can love and serve others. The Society of the Sacred Heart is an international order of women in the Catholic Church, founded in 1800 by a French woman, Madeleine Sophie Barat. Her desire was to heal the pain and division in her country in the aftermath of the French revolution, by helping others to discover the love of God's Heart. She chose to do this primarily through education and spirituality. "The pierced Heart of Jesus opens our being to the depths of God and the anguish of humankind" (Consts, para 8)

"To be the Heart of God on earth means to go to the heart of life with the attitudes and feelings of the Heart of Christ; that was the fundamental intuition of Madeleine Sophie".

Happy Corpus Christi to you all! "Today is a day for sharing and celebrating the greatest and loveliest tiny joy of all: a slender, fragile wafer, a sip from a chalice, containing within them the Real Presence of our uncontainable God..."

'... we began June, a month dedicated to the Sacred Heart - so, surely, a month dedicated to the source of all love!'

Silvana RSCJ reminds us of the Sacred Heart's compelling invitation to each one of us

Love is the pure energy of God, pray for it fervently.
Be grateful when it comes into your life,
remember those whose presence is a balm.
Give of yourself generously:
offered wholly, completely, and without reservation.
Lavish it on others, even the undeserving ones.
Cultivate friendship with care, it is the best love of all.

As we begin to prepare for the feast of the Sacred Heart on the 12th, why not join in with the prayers in this novena, being offered by the US Bishops ahead of consecrating the country to the Sacred Heart on the 11th. And if you look closely, you'll see that the Society and a quote from our Constitutions get an honourable mention!

On June 11, 2026, the U.S. bishops will consecrate the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus as part of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Parishes are encouraged to participate.

"The civilisation of love will not arise from a single or spectacular gesture, but from the sum total of small and steadfast acts of fidelity that serve as a bulwark against dehumanization.”
