You are warmly invited to our parish service of Holy Communion this Sunday, 23rd August at 10am. This Sunday’s readings tell two powerful stories of God at work in the midst of danger and uncertainty: in Exodus, Moses is rescued from Pharaoh’s oppression and prepared for a life that will change the destiny of God’s people. In Matthew, Jesus asks his disciples who they believe he is, and Peter declares him to be the Messiah, the Son of the living God—a confession that becomes the foundation of the Church.
Junior Church is on its summer break, but the creche is open.

Today we give thanks for St Oswald, (one of our South aisle saints), King of Northumbria, whose Christian faith shaped the way he ruled. Having encountered Christ during years of exile, he returned to his kingdom determined not only to unite his people but also to share the hope of the gospel, supporting St Aidan in establishing the Christian faith across the north of England. May his example encourage us to live out our faith with courage, humility and generosity wherever God has placed us.
Lord God almighty,
who so kindled the faith of King Oswald with your Spirit
that he set up the sign of the cross in his kingdom
and turned his people to the light of Christ:
grant that we, being fired by the same Spirit,
may always bear our cross before the world
and be found faithful servants of the gospel;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

You are warmly invited to our parish service of Holy Communion with Prayer Ministry this Sunday, 26th July at 10am. We hear the story of Jacob's years of service for Rachel and Jesus' parables of the reign of the kingdom. In the midst of life's twists, delays and disappointments, we discover that God is quietly at work, bringing hope out of the mess, growing his kingdom in unseen ways, and inviting us to trust his loving purposes, even when we cannot yet see the whole picture.
Junior Church is on its summer break, but the creche is open. Refreshments follow after the service.
