**Message from Kingston Street Pastors Coordinator**

Dear Friends and supporters of Kingston Street Pastors,

After serving with Kingston Street Pastors for the past 10 years as coordinator, I am moving on from this role to train in ordained ministry as a priest in the Church of England. I will be stepping down from Street Pastors in September.

Since May 2016 when I joined Kingston Street Pastors as coordinator, I have been so privileged to meet and work alongside so many faithful, prayerful, servant-hearted people.

I want to thank all of our local supporters, particularly those in local churches, all who receive our weekly prayer letter and all those who donate to sustain the work financially.

I also want to thank the businesses in our town centre economy who partner with Street Pastors and all our colleagues at Kingston council and the Met Police promoting safety for people in Kingston. There is so much amazing work and collaboration going on to help keep people safe and make our town a great place to be.

I want to acknowledge the role of the Ascension Trust pioneering and developing the Street Pastors brand and providing support and expertise to local initiatives across the world.

I want to thank our management board both for how they have supported me in this role and the dedication they show to faithfully stewarding and steering the work of Street Pastors.

Above all, I want to thank our Street Pastor and Prayer Pastor volunteers in Kingston whose dedication, skill and care are what makes this initiative so valuable and successful.

I feel so strongly that what we do through Street Pastors - providing practical support to people in vulnerable situations - makes a huge difference to people’s lives and is a key way that the church can serve our community as a source of hope and restoration. It has been a blessing and a privilege to be a part of Street Pastors. Please continue to support this vital work.

This week we have celebrated 20 years of Kingston Street Pastors remembering our first patrol on 16th June 2006.

On Sunday we held a service of celebration at Kingston United Reformed Church where we were joined by the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Kingston as well as a host of Street Pastors past and present. This was a chance to look back at all that has been achieved over the last 20 years.

On Friday we had an anniversary patrol round Kingston where we sent out three teams joined by supporters to mark the anniversary and pray for the town.

Both events were well attended and we are grateful for everyone who helped us celebrate. Here's to another 20 years!

We had an early team out this afternoon from 4pm to 9pm and now have a night team out on the streets until 2am. We have set up our Safe Zone and we're here with tea, coffee, soup, sandwiches, chocolate and much more besides

We celebrated Christmas and another fruitful year as Street and Prayer Pastors with a delicious meal together last week. Thanks to The Cheeky Pea for accommodating us beautifully! Wishing everyone a joyful and peaceful Christmas.

Our afternoon team were out and about in Kingston engaging with shop and bar staff and the public on Friday - caring, listening and helping.
