This weekend join us for a joint service at St Mary’s with Forest Church

Fun outdoor worship and activities for all the family!

Sunday 30th August 2026, 11am
St Mary’s Churchyard

PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NO SERVICE AT CHRIST CHURCH THIS WEEK

Don’t miss out on another fun Forest Church opportunity which will take place on Sunday 30th August 2026, 11am in St Mary’s Churchyard.

Our theme this time is: Jesus said “I came and you may have life and live it to the full” and we will explore this with: a brief time of collective worship followed by different activities in small groups in different areas of the churchyard including: *planting bulbs, *arts and crafts, *a game, *an opportunity for a little stillness and reflection, *music, singing and dance… and a time for refreshments and to chat to each other at the end. 😊

NB. If you came to Forest Church on Palm Sunday, we will already have a signed registration form from you - all you will need to do is sign in on the day. If this is your first time, please complete a registration form and hand it in on the day. This will help us to ensure that everyone is as safe as possible. (forms will also be available on the day)

Christ Church Festival is returning for 2026!
On the same day as the wider Wanstead Festival on the Green, join us for a family fun filled day!

We are looking for stall holders to participate. If you’d like to have a stall in the church grounds please email [email protected]

Tower inspection is underway! How cool are these photos of the cherry picker at Christ Church yesterday. Imagine the views of Wanstead you can get from up there!

Oh we do like to be beside the seaside 🌊🌅

Join us for our end of summer trip to Broadstairs on Saturday 26th September!

Meet on the beach at 12 noon, bring a picnic. Beach rounders for the children. Sandcastle making competition with prizes!

Lots for children to do in the afternoon, and adults too (Dickens Museum, cockles on the pier, old town walks, arcades, lovely bars and restaurants and a beautiful sandy beach, Morelli’s - the best ice cream parlour in the world).

Come back together for our Wanstead Service at Broadstairs Methodist Church, (York St, near the beach) at 4pm, including children’s activities.

Cost: £5 per person / £10 family ticket (donated to the church who will host us for the service)

Join us this evening at 6.30pm at Christ Church for a very special evensong!

The choir will be joined by the choirs of St Mary's Church Woodford and All Saints' Woodford Wells to celebrate the 150th anniversary of our parish choir.

They will be performing some very special pieces including those composed by the Rector, a previous Director of Music, and competition winner Colin Ashworth!

After the service there will be a drinks reception which will double up as this years thank you drinks hosted by the Rector.
