Maryam Centre

Maryam Centre The East London Mosque's Maryam Centre is dedicated to providing women's services in the Mosque.

The foundation of women's work in the East London Mosque was laid first in 1992. Local women visited the Imam seeking advice and religious counsel. Over the years, the number of women accessing the services of the East London Mosque grew, and to respond in a culturally competent way meant having dedicated staff that can relate to and provide vital support. Services expanded from weekly advice sess

ions by volunteers to a full time project with experienced staff, which today is known as ELM Women's Link. ELM Women's Link is a project of the East London Mosque and London Muslim Centre. The project aims to provide services that support and foster the spiritual, mental, emotional and physical wellbeing of Muslim women and their families.

Asslamu'alaikum,

Eid Mubarak - taqabbal Allahu minna wa minkum.

Before maghrib times arrives and we bid Ramadan farewell, please take a few minutes to learn a few of the sunnahs of Eid.

Below is the takbeer which is recommended for us to begin reciting from the night of the last day of Ramadan (maghrib tonight):

Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, laa ilaaha ill-Allah, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, wa Lillaahi’l-hamd (Allah is Most Great, Allah is Most Great, there is no deity worthy of being worshipped except Allah, Allah is Most Great, Allah is Most Great, and all praise and thanks be to Allah).

May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala allow us to meet our beloved guest Ramadan next year and accept from us our salah, siyaam and tawbah. We pray Allah grants us all steadfastness to continue with our acts of worship once this blessed month departs.

Abu Hurayrah RA narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

“Whoever spends the nights of Ramadan in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.”

Assalamu’alaikum wa rahmatullah,

Abu Hurayra and Abu Sa'id reported that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "No people sit remembering Allah, the Mighty and Exalted, without the angels surrounding them and mercy covering them and tranquillity descending on them and Allah mentioning them to those who are with Him."
